Over the span of about three decades, Black Hills Ammunition has grown from a small part-time operation to one of the most respected manufacturers of handgun and rifle ammunition. Ive used Black Hills ammo in national and international level competition, in varmint shoots and big game hunts from Wyoming to Namibia, in my home and personal defense firearms along with testing rifles and handguns. Never has a Black Hills round failed, or disappointed me in any way. |

Tennessee will soon begin offering a new concealed carry-only handgun permit that doesnt require an applicant to demonstrate the ability to fire a weapon. Under the new handgun law, a permit to carry a concealed handgun could be obtained after online training of at least 90 minutes. The current handgun carry permits, to be known as enhanced handgun carry permits, would still remain an option. Those permits require eight hours of in-person training with live firing required a testing procedure that critics say is time-consuming and burdensome. |

Swift intervention by a legally-armed parishioner abruptly stopped Sundays tragic church shooting in White Settlement, Texas, not gun control by any of its pseudonyms, and one of the nations leading gun rights advocates says the incident exposed a myth perpetuated by the gun prohibition lobby about armed citizens.
The unidentified killer fatally shot two parishioners, including one man who drew a pistol when he recognized the threat, but was quickly neutralized within seconds by a volunteer member of the churchs security team. That good guy with a gun has identified himself on social media as Jack Wilson, president of On Target LTC, LLC, who is also a candidate for public office. Wilson fired one shot that put the gunman down. |

Trying to sell expensive hair extensions, a 23-year-old drove his car behind an apartment complex Sept. 18, after being led there by two potential buyers. An unknown man allegedly leaped through the drivers side window, forced a handgun into the drivers stomach and demanded property. In response, the armed citizen pulled his firearm and fired three shots at his assailant, fatally striking the would-be robber. The armed citizen turned himself in at the Clifton Heights Police Department. After a review, the district attorneys office determined the armed citizen had acted in self-defense. |

Fox Nation's Tomi Lahren did not hold back on "anti-gun rights" Democrats in the aftermath of Sunday's shooting at West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas. But she reserved a special rebuke for former presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke. Two men were killed when a gunman opened fire on the congregation of 240 people, but within seconds the shooter was killed when an armed parishioner fired back. |

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro called Monday for U.S. synagogues to "have at least an armed guard, and several qualified people with firearms" following the weekend stabbing of five people at the home of a New York rabbi during a Hanukkah celebration. "Seeing some heartburn over guns in synagogues to protect worshippers. Get over it," Shapiro, an Orthodox Jew, wrote to his 2.4 million followers on Twitter.

Everyone who knows anything about 1911-type pistols and competition knows STI International. It makes high-capacity handguns for action-shooting events, right? Well, the company also makes flat, compact, everyday carry (EDC) pistols as well. Case in point: the Staccato-C, a compact, single-stack 1911-type pistol chambered in 9 mm. |

For both pistol and rifle ammunition, nickel-plated brass casings offer a unique spin on the standard brass or steel casings. When it comes to nickel vs. brass, nickel-plated brass looks nicer than standard brass casings and can be reloaded making it a great choice for someone looking for an aesthetically pleasing and functional cartridge case. Remington, Federal and Hornady are noted for using nickel-plated ammo in their premium lines. |

One doesnt need to look hard to see that our Second Amendment rights, and our industry, is under fire by those who cant fathom an individual who chooses to exercise their right to keep and bear arms. A recent Harris poll, as reported by USA Today, showed that nearly 50 percent of all Americans are concerned that their right to bear arms (is) at risk. |

The tragic church shooting Sunday in White Settlement, Texas in which church members fatally shot the gunman provides more evidence that good guys with guns are necessary to stop bad guys, and that armed citizens can protect soft targets, the Second Amendment Foundation said today. This horrible shooting was live streamed, and shows how the killer was taken down within a few seconds of firing the first shot, said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. |

In light of the West Freeway Church shooting in White Settlement, Texas, gun control activists are blaming gun access and conceal-carry laws for the rise in gun deaths in the United States. Gun control activist Shannon Watts claimed more than 3,500 Texans are killed by guns every year. Her tweet insinuated mass shooters and increased access to guns are to blame for the rise in this number. |

In 2018, I wrote a eulogy to honor the passing of mouse guns' into the annals of shooting history. By mouse guns I mean the small, pocket-sized semi-automatics chambered for diminutive cartridges, including the .32 ACP, .25 ACP, .22LR and even the .22 Short. Although the small center-fire .32s and 25s continue to languish, Ruger has opted to pull out the chest paddles in 2020 and give the rimfire mouse gun a resuscitating jolt with the release of a new version of the popular .380 ACP LCP II pocket pistol chambered in .22 LR.

More people were shot in Philadelphia this year than in any other year since 2010, according to police statistics, and the citys homicide total of 351 through Saturday is about level with last years decade-long high. Gun violence has persisted even as other metrics seem to stand in contrast to it such as relatively low levels of overall violent crime, an increase in people arrested for illegal gun possession, and a 34% uptick in cases filed involving an aggravated assault with a gun. |

Despite the all-American claim that bigger is better, there are some cases in which smaller and more compact really pays dividends. For instance, when youre looking for the ultimate truck gun, an easily stored and transported range gun or simply need a highly maneuverable home-defense gun, a pint-size AR pistol can be a lot more user friendly than its full-size counterpart. |

Minnesota hunters hoping to bag a tom turkey with a firearm this spring will no longer be restricted to a single permit area. With the exception of three major wildlife management areas, a spring turkey license will provide the opportunity to hunt all permit areas in the state. Beginning March 1, all spring turkey hunters can purchase a license over-the-counter. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is announcing the season details now so hunters can apply for permits drawn in a lottery for the three wildlife management areas. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church, for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything. You cannot conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." --Robert A. Heinlein, "Revolt in 2100" (Pg. 68-69, Baen Books paperback edition, 1999 printing) |
