Growing up in the great state of Arizona, I hunted and fished annually throughout my entire childhood. It was a simpler time for me. No obligations, no bills, just worrying about when I would get back into the hills again. We had our deer camp most years and had a blast at all of them. Stories that I still tell today originated from those very hunts. The thought of hunting out-of-state is not one that hit me sooner than later. I was quite content with spending all of my time in Arizona. That was until a few years back when I got sick of not getting drawn for elk in my home state. |

In the quest for the best hunting rifle cartridge, the simple fact is that many of us are going about it the wrong way. Once you look at it carefully, its easy to understand why. Its because we havent taken into account the use of magic bullets.
The science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke wrote, Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Hunters, especially, labor under a misunderstanding of ballistics which keeps them from seeing the magic available across the counter at any gun store. |

A Detroit gas station clerk scared off two men who were trying to steal the ATM from inside his station on Sunday night.
The station is near Houston Whittier and Hayes streets on the city's east side. Video from inside the building shows two men walk in and immediately start hitting the ATM with a sledgehammer.
The clerk is shown screaming at them before scaring them off.
"I told them, 'Stop knocking my ATM before you get hurt,'" said Sonic Abdo, the gas station owner. "But they still knocking on it, so when I pull my gun out, they saw it and ran away."
The men took off without being able to steal anything from the store. |

The topic of school security came up at a faculty meeting at Oakland University in Michigan. Someone said they should fight back against an attacker. That sounded like a good idea. The faculty passed a proposal to issue hockey pucks for school security.
No one who studies institutional security would propose handing out hockey pucks to defend a politician , a celebrity, or a business executive.
This is negligence. Stop playing political games with our childrens lives. |

The nations attention was on Chicago recently where a police officer and two others were murdered by a deranged gunman at Chicagos Mercy Hospital. The loss of life may have even been greater were it not for the bravery and heroism of Chicago police officer Samuel Jimenez, who gave his life to protect others. While we mourn the lives lost in tragedies like these, its important to learn from them and have a real conversation in our society about whether we are truly doing everything possible to protect ourselves and those around us. |

In March of 2016, members of Michigan Open Carry (MOC) and Michigan Gun Owners (MGO) were manning a booth they had rented in the DeVos Place Convention Center. They were openly carrying holstered pistols, which has never been against the law in Michigan, except for a small number of restricted areas. While people with concealed carry permits may not carry a concealed firearm into a school, they may openly carry a holstered pistol in Michigan. They can openly carry holstered pistols into the State Capitol. |

This may seem to be a dark, angry diatribe, but it is not a call to arms. It is, instead, a call to wait and grow stronger. And, at the same time, it is a call to refuse to compromise with the liars. Years ago, when most of you were just young pup, gunnies were already being demonized by folks who were afraid of our guns. They called us names because we called out their lies. But they never stopped lying about us and our firearms.

Concealed pistol license holders in Michigan can now renew their licenses online through the state website.
There are 644,677 active CPLs in Michigan. The license is valid for up to five years.
The new system for renewing CPLs went into effect on Nov. 30, according to the Michigan State Police.
Residents need to have an existing CPL to use the new system, including a personal identification number. People can get the information from the county clerk that issued the original CPL to get the PIN number.
CPL holders can still renew their license in-person at a county clerk's office or by mail with a completed application and payment.

A red flag law may just be the newest euphemism for reasonable gun control. In general, a red flag law is some type of state law (although it could at some point be federal) which allows the state to take firearms away from an individual and/or to deny that individual the ability to purchase a gun or to obtain a handgun permit if certain red flags exist related to the person.

It doesnt matter what species youre hunting: sometimes whatever youre doing just isnt working. The birds wont decoy, and you dont know what to try next. Sometimes the solution is an easy in-the-field fix; sometimes your hunt was doomed before the first birds came into view. Or the conditions are so poor that you would have been better off sleeping in.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right. [Nunn vs. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846)] |
