As Gun Owners of Americas national spokesman and Florida state director, this debate was especially important because I personally experience the result of Floridas policies that were defended by DeSantis, and viciously attacked by Newsom. Additionally, I have family in California and hear directly about their lives under Newsoms aggressive liberal policies in the Golden State. Right off the bat, Gov. Newsom attacked Gov. DeSantis for signing Floridas permitless concealed-only carry bill into law in 2023 claiming that it caused higher crime rates in Florida.

The Ohio House balked Wednesday on a measure that would excise any reference to federal gun statutes in state law. House Speaker Jason Stephens abruptly gaveled out of session without taking up the proposal.

Supporters claim the measure, known as the Second Amendment Preservation Act, or SAPA, is only meant to keep federal authorities from co-opting state and local agencies. In truth it goes well beyond that. Instead of simply defending state prerogatives, it creates legal mechanisms to punish current and past enforcement of gun laws the backers oppose.

When it comes to the .357 vs 9mm, the comparison is a bit like apples and oranges. The two cartridges are vastly different and typically fired from different types of handguns. With a few exceptions, the .357 Magnum is a revolver cartridge and most often the 9mm Luger is fired from a pistol. Their similarity is that they use bullets of nearly an identical diameter. So why bother with comparison at all? Well, you might be trying to decide if you want a revolver or a pistol, and .357 Magnum and the 9mm Luger are, arguably and respectively, the best option for each handgun type.

The Fifth Circuits stay on the injunction was expected after SCOTUS stepped in and stayed injunctions for other companies, such as 80 Percent Arms and Defense Distributed in VanDerStok v. Garland. The stay allowed the ATF to enact the frames rule. The stay will last until a writ of cert is denied, or SCOTUS issues a judgment.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) slammed New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer for reintroducing a ban on so-called "assault weapons" that the NRA says is another attempt by Democrats to "destroy our self-defense and Second Amendment rights."

"Sen. Chuck Schumer launched a failed attack on the Constitution itself, targeting firearms legally owned and used by millions of Americans. This is yet another attempt by gun control extremists to erode and eventually destroy our self-defense and Second Amendment rights," NRA-ILA Executive Director Randy Kozuch told Fox News Digital on Wednesday.

With gun ownership on the rise throughout the nation, women are one huge demographic that has seen noticeable growth in this area. Such is why NRA firearms instructor Robin Evans built a self-defense training company that caters exclusively to women, known as Chicks With Triggers.

Evans launched Chicks With Triggers during the COVID-19 pandemic, which also coincided with a rise in firearms ownership, a trend that has seen more than one million purchases of a firearm continue for more than 50 months, according to data from the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown filed a petition Tuesday requesting that the federal case that deemed Marylands handgun licensing requirement unconstitutional be heard before the full 15-judge 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The Second Amendment does not prohibit states from enacting common-sense gun laws like Marylands handgun licensing law, Brown said in a statement. My office will continue to defend laws that are designed to protect Marylanders from gun violence.

Late last month, a three-judge panel of the 4th Circuit found a portion of the states Firearm Safety Act of 2013 to be unconstitutional in a split 2-1 decision.

New Mexico has the third highest rateof gun violence in the nation according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As a way to combat this, U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-New Mexico, is proposing a bill that would regulate certain kinds of semi-automatic weapons based on their lethality.

The Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion Act or GOSAFEwould regulate firearms by preventing unlawful modifications and self-assembly, and would require future gas-operated designs to be approved before manufacture. It would also establish a list of prohibited firearms for civilians.

After a federal appeals court struck down Maryland's handgun licensing law last month, the state attorney general is requesting a new hearing where more judges would consider the case, which could have significant implications for gun rights across the country.

On Nov. 21, a three-judge panel on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond issued a 2-1 ruling that found it was unconstitutionally restrictive for Maryland to require people to obtain a license before purchasing a handgun. The process of obtaining a license can take up to 30 days.

In the majority opinion, the judges said they considered the case in light of a U.S. Supreme Court decision last year that "effected a sea change in Second Amendment law."

A federal district court judge in West Virginia has ruled that a federal law prohibiting handgun sales to adults ages 18-20 is facially unconstitutional, and granted a summary judgment in a case brought by the Second Amendment Foundation.

In a 40-page decision, U.S. District Chief Judge Thomas S. Kleeh with the Northern District of West Virginia wrote, (B)ecause Plaintiffs conduct the purchase of handguns fall[s] [within] the Second Amendments unqualified command and the challenged statutes and regulations are not consistent with the Nations historic tradition of firearm regulation, the Court FINDS 18 U.S.C. 922(b)(1) and (c)(1) facially unconstitutional and as applied to Plaintiffs.

The deadline to draft bills for the upcoming legislative session already has passed, but the House Rules Committee voted unanimously Tuesday to allow a late bill co-sponsored by Republican Rep. Terry Roy, a staunch defender of the Second Amendment, and Democrat David Meuse, who has pushed for gun control. Republicans hold the slimmest of majorities in the 400-member House, meaning cooperation will be essential for anything to pass next year.

Senators Kelly and cosponsors Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) introduced the Gas Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion Act, or GOSAFE Act, which would establish a list of prohibited firearms and limit the capacity of detachable magazines to 10 rounds.

It would also prohibit the manufacture and assembly of ghost guns, which are bought in pieces online and assembled at home. They are usually untraceable to law enforcement because they dont have a serial number.

How much longer can you as Republicans stay with the pro-gun advocates when the death toll from gun violence continues to escalate? More children die from gun violence than any other reason. I must tell you that it is a little pathetic to witness when well-researched commonsense bills to end gun violence are presented and there is no discussion but rather kowtowing to what the NRA and the Virginia Citizens Defense League lobbyists have to say. What do you say to your children and grandchildren to explain your vote against commonsense gun safety laws? Do not try to put it off on the Second Amendment as if the Founding Fathers intended to protect this kind of gun violence in the Constitution.

An attempt by U.S. Senate Democrats to revive the 1994-2004 assault weapons ban Wednesday was immediately blocked by U.S. Senator John Barrasso, R-Wyoming.

Calling the Second Amendment freedoms safeguard in a statement released shortly after the measure was blocked, Barrasso claimed the measure, introduced by Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, would have burdened Wyomingites.

Almost every single page of this bill adds new restrictions and new burdens on people who follow the law, Barrasso said. It tells you what you can buy and what you cannot buy. It bans more than 205 popular rifles, shotguns and pistols by name.

Plaintiffs said the majority of the three-judge panel incorrectly held that banned firearms are not arms, that the common use test is faulty, that the court misinterpreted recent U.S. Supreme Court precedent from New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, that the courts decision rests on stealth interest balancing, and that an arm may be banned because it is similar to a weapon formerly used by the military.

On Nov. 30, Justice Amy Coney Barrett gave the state until Wednesday evening to respond to a motion for an injunction pending review.

At the prospect of an emergency injunction pending review preventing the states gun ban from being enforced, Gov. J.B. Pritzker was confident, yet concerned.

Supermarket and bodega owners in New York City have had ENOUGH as violent crime and theft surges thanks to felon-coddling policies and Democrat politicians who refuse to take action.

These owners have been forced to take matters into their own hands. According to the United Bodegas of America and the Bodega and Small Business Group, hundreds of these grocers have applied for gun licenses and sought out resources to obtain permits to carry.

The National Supermarket Association estimates about a quarter of its 600 members are now armed and ready. Prior to the pandemic, only about 10% felt the need to pack heat.
