Big city socialists are waging a propaganda war against honest gun owners. One of the myths they frequently roll out is that Guns are unregulated." The person who makes a statement like that either has never been anywhere near the firearms industry, or they are a paid liar.
Ive owned both cars and guns, so lets compare the two and see if we really regulate guns anywhere like the way we regulate motor vehicles. Is this responsible regulation, or is it anti-rights bigotry? I use this humorous comparison to illustrate the serious discrimination faced by firearms owners today.
It is time to stop this anti-rights bigotry. |

Hernandez, who does not work in Michigan, was arrested early Tuesday outside of Planet Fitness, 3681 28th St. SE, where he reportedly had brandished the firearm.
He allegedly fired three shots at a responding police sergeant outside of the fitness center. The sergeant was not hit.
Police soon arrested Hernandez at gunpoint in the parking lot north of Center Pointe Mall, police said. |

During a December 6 speech on national security and the fight against terrorism, President Obama refused to criticize radical Islamic terror but had no problem suggesting that the availability of firearms in America is problematic.
At one point during the speech, Obama actually warned Americans not criticize Islam for the attacks that Muslims have carried out on our soilmost recently the Ohio State University attack, but also the attacks on the Minnesota mall, Orlando Pulse, San Bernardino County building, Chattanooga military offices, and Fort Hood (2009), to name a few. |

This simple language in our states constitution provides a universal guarantee. There are no qualifiers for background checks, criminal history, permits or fees. The institution of such barriers are therefore illegal. Further, the requirement for a citizen of Indiana to take a day off work, file forms, be fingerprinted and pay a fee is clearly discriminatory, especially for the poor who cannot afford to miss work, pay the fees or both. We are currently forced to rent a right by these exclusionary requirements. Common sense would dictate that our laws be changed to conform with the letter and spirit of our state Constitution. Or does IndyStars Editorial Board only believe in constitutions when it suits their political ideology? |

The 2016 elections were great for Second Amendment rights, even the Bloomberg-backed Trace publication noted that the NRA won all but one of their races they poured money into throughout the cycle. The areas where the gun control movement scored some ballot initiative victories were mostly in states that were already anti-gun to begin with. Its not shocking if California, Washington, or even New York passes more measures to make it more difficult for Americans to exercise their constitutional rights. |

As speaker of the Capital University Student Senate it was great to see YAL chapter members take the initiative through student government to address policies that endangered students. Soon after the legislation passed we were informed that the student hand book had been changed to reflect that pepper spray and mace were now legal for students to carry for self-defense purposes. Members of our YAL chapter have created a lasting impact on our campus community by ensuring students have the right to defend themselves, said Garrett Kehr, YAL Ohio State Chair and Capital University Chapter President. |

Ive been enjoying the different force-on-force training scenarios offered up by the First Person Defender series of videos that weve been sharing over the last week, and think that the second scenario in the Squatter Attacks Home Inspector video offers an excellent place for a discussion of the importance of training. |

This anti-gun liberal is doing what liberals do best. Blame the law-abiding citizen for incidents of violent crime. He knows no shame as he manufactures fake news about concealed-carry permit holders.
To date, Milwaukee has had 138 homicides, compared to 145 in 2015. This is one of the highest per-capita homicide rates in the country. Many of these are senseless killings in drive-bys; drug- and gang-related incidents; instances of domestic violence; and innocent people becoming caught in a crossfire. You can count on one hand the number of these involving a concealed-carry permit, and of those, most involved self-defense.

At the top of LaPierre's wish list is an absurd and dangerous federal law to require any state that issues permits for carrying concealed weapons to recognize similar permits issued by other states, even if they have different eligibility and training requirements and less stringent restrictions on gun ownership. Proponents of so-called concealed-carried reciprocity equate it with state driver's licenses, which are recognized nationwide. But that's a false comparison. All states follow similar standards for issuing driver's licenses, and basic vehicle and traffic laws are largely standardized. |

In his annual "state of the university" address on Wednesday, Florida State University President John Thrasher reiterated his strong opposition to allowing guns on university and college campuses.
As a member of the Florida Senate, Thrasher helped kill a bill in 2011 that would have allowed gun owners with concealed-weapons licenses to bring their firearms to Florida's university and state-college campuses.
"I opposed it. I killed it. I have worked against it since then," Thrasher told the FSU faculty. "And you have my promise that I will work against it this year also." |

A controversial measure that would allow people with concealed-weapons licenses to pack heat while on college and university campuses was filed Wednesday by state Rep. Scott Plakon, R-Longwood.
The proposal (HB 6005) is filed for the 2017 legislative session, which starts in March. Second Amendment groups backed such legislation during the 2016 session, while it was opposed by many faculty members, university and college presidents, and campus law enforcement. The 2016 measure was approved in the House but did not get through the Senate Judiciary Committee. |

A New York law making it illegal for members of the public to possess "electronic" arms like Tasers is facing a federal lawsuit claiming that making such possession a criminal misdemeanor is a violation of the Second Amendment.
New York, one of five states outlawing electronic weapons, is being sued (PDF) by the Firearms Policy Foundation and Matthew Avitabilethe mayor of Middleburgh, New York. Avitabile wants to purchase a Taser for self-defense. But New York Penal Law 265.01 says, "A person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree when:(1) He or she possesses any firearm, electronic dart gun, electronic stun gun..." |

If youre into starting ugly debates online, go to a shotgun forum and ask which barrel length is best. Of all the contentious topics in the world of firearms, this one elicits some of the most ferocious and deeply divided responses.
It seems at choosing the right barrel length for your shotgun should be a pretty simple decisionfar simpler than, say, the nuanced sciences of choke selection or the proper shot size for hunting game. But the barrel battle still wages. So, whats the truth? |

The Elko Daily Free Press is counting down the days until marijuana is legal in Nevada by answering questions concerning the law.
Q: Will Nevada residents be able to carry a firearm and marijuana on their person at the same time?
Nevada residents will be able to have a legal firearm and their legal marijuana on their person at the same time.
Though there is some ambiguity regarding what gun owners who use marijuana will be allowed to do come Jan. 1, Elko County Sheriff Jim Pitts said recreational marijuana will likely be treated the same way alcohol is in regard to carrying firearms. |
