The powers proposed in the 'Model State Emergency Health Powers Act' would force citizens to submit to physical exams, tests, quarantine and vaccinations against their will. Some states are already considering enactment in 2002.
Citizens' Council on Health Care (CCHC) is concerned that the proposal would provide intrusive authority for purposes far beyond bioterrorism... the writing of the Act began well before September 11th.

Pittsburgh 'Gun Amnesty Day' is a response to gun-related homicides and is aimed primarily at the city's 'African-American' community. There have been 57 homicides in Pittsburgh this year, and guns were used in 50. A disproportionate number of killings were in predominantly 'African-American' neighborhoods.

El Paso Times: El Paso agents with the U.S. Border Patrol said they were fired on twice from Mexico late Wednesday as they investigated a suspected smuggling near West Paisano Drive, officials said.
"The agents took cover as soon as they heard the gunfire, but no one was hurt," Border Patrol spokesman Doug Mosier said.
KABA NOTE: And gun controllers believe that we would be "safer" if firearms were banned. Obviously, they are wrong. |

RIO DE JANEIRO - Police arrested seven men and said they were closing in on another suspect Friday in the slaying of Peter Blake, a yachting champion from New Zealand who was fatally shot by pirates on the Amazon.
"The suspects claimed they fired in self-defense...they weren't expecting any resistance," said Federal Police agent Jose Araujo.
