"The thought of a strong powerful government for a long time conjured up images of security and stability in my mind. A government that had the power to regulate everything and keep everyone in check felt like what a country needed to preserve order and thus to create an environment in which people would be able to go about their economic activities, and prosper."

"I discovered that this kind of government, contrary to what I thought, can actually be the recipe for total disintegration of society, turning human beings into beasts and creating a system in which chaos reigns, literally a man-eat-man society."

"I saw first hand that oppression is created by law, and it doesn't matter who is doing it, the injustice is the same and it causes the same kind of suffering to the oppressed, subjecting them to poverty, death, misery and suffering."

"Indeed, much of the money earmarked for 'Homeland Security' has shown up on the streets of America, used against American citizens trying to exercise their free speech rights to protest Bushs policies, the Iraq war, and global free trade versus worker rights issues. ... In 2003, cities such as Seattle, Wa., and Miami, Fl., have experienced mobs of riot police, paid for by Homeland Security, fully decked out in chemical/urban warfare gear, waving AK-47s and guns marked 'less lethal,' indiscriminately at crowds of children, mothers, draft-age students, clergy, 'anarchists,' ACLU attorneys, National Lawyers Guild Legal Observers, the media, etc. Basic non-violent anti-war protest in America has become very dangerous." ...

"Language in the Omnibus appropriations bill passed today by the U.S. House of Representatives would require that Brady background records on gun sales be destroyed within 24 hours."

"The amendment creates other headaches for police and federal law enforcement as well. If enacted into law, it would block the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) from requiring gun dealers to take regular inventories of their firearms; block public scrutiny of corrupt gun dealers by preventing the release of crime gun traces and multiple gun sale data; and require that ATF disavow the conclusions of numerous studies it has published."

"But none of the proposed bill changes gets to the heart of the patrol's concerns -- that people should not have physical contact with a gun during a traffic stop."

-------
In other words, even if you go through a background check -- the one cops go through -- before being given a "permit", these police officers want you to be defenseless against the weapons they wield. And somehow it doesn't dawn on them that if you got pulled over and wanted to kill a cop, you'd do it with or without a "permit" anyway. A little too logical for such simple minds to comprehend, apparently. Double-standard fascist nonsense -- so typical of some of the political leaders in law enforcement today and especially the ones running the Ohio Highway Patrol. This is the kind of elitist, treasonable abuse that caused America's founders to raise the black flag and start killing redcoats. The implication -- that "we are your superiors" when exactly the opposite is true -- is going to fester and come to a head some day unless thugs with badges stop pretending they own us and our basic rights. That's not a prediction; it's a fact.

"Should you fight back against an attacker? For years the conventional advice was no, that women who fight back are more likely to be hurt. But now, many studies show women who fight back suffer injuries no more severe than those who don't. Here's some advice for everyone."

-Limit your risk.

*Stay safe. Once an attack starts, the likelihood is that the victim will be hurt in some way, so the best strategy is to avoid the attack in the first place. Make sure you`re home is secure and your card doors are locked. Be aware of your surroundings wheneveryou`re out, day or night, and don`t go alone if you can avoid it. Remember: most attacks are by someone the victim knows.

Avoiding an attack is not always possible, so here is some better advice: Arm Yourself!

Ivor Forbes - charged with slashing his 24-year-old wife, Kisha Denton, to death - 'looked like he was possessed,' said a neighbor, who stumbled on Forbes' bloody rampage in an apartment at 2199 Holland Ave. in the Pelham Parkway section just before dawn." ...

"Forbes, 32, who was unarmed when the cop shot him in the legs, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, police said. Cops recovered two swords - one of which had a 24-inch blade - from his apartment. One of the swords had blood on it, authorities said." ...

"Officer Bobby Lewis, 27, who was shot in the chest and knee by his partner, was taken in stable condition to Jacobi Medical Center, where Mayor Bloomberg paid the seven-year veteran a visit. The mayor credited a bullet-proof vest with saving the cop's life."

"Police aren't sure how it happened, but forensic evidence shows the suspects were wounded by their own gunfire, Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said. The evidence includes the nature of their wounds and where shell casings were found in the victim's home, he said."

"Have suspects shot themselves before in the commission of a crime? Yes, it's happened... But it certainly is unusual, and it's even more unusual for three suspects to shoot themselves."

It's nice to see some karmic retribution every once in a while.

"...As I was driving home, it struck me. Maybe there's a value in a bad odour."

"That value, Lieutenant Mathers thought, would be in clearing out the vacant buildings that become magnets for prostitutes, drug dealers and gangs. After a few experiments with chemical stink bombs, he and Deputy Scott Gage found a petroleum-based gel called SkunkShot on the internet. 'It's pretty weird,' Deputy Gage said, 'but it's brilliant.' "

"And the Skunk Squad was born. Its first success, Lieutenant Mathers said, came early this year on Long Beach Boulevard." ...

"A gel using the scent of cat urine was being tested, he said."

"After the Clifton/Cincinnati Open Carry Walk was over, I met my dad at Northgate Mall. Got something at Suncoast, and as I left I noticed two sheriff's deputies and a mall security officer. As I began toward the exit the deputy asked me to stop, then questioned me about why I am carrying a gun. I told him "for self-defense." Then they all began to ask me if I am law enforcement. I of course said no, 'I'm just a citizen,' so they began with the 'you can't carry a weapon.' "

"Those of us who want to reduce the size of government are often accused of being heartless. Somehow, millions of poor people are going to die horribly due to lack of government benefits if we Libertarians actually manage to reduce a dime of spending."

"The statists who make these arguments are the truly heartless ones, and now I have proof. Not only are they heartless, they are colder and crueler than any movie villain." ...

"This statist malevolence truly bared its teeth during the campaign for that $1.2 billion tax hike in Alabama back in September. Voters were told dire stories of how health care would face the ax, police patrols would disappear, and all the prisons would have to be emptied. That is if you don't give us $1.2 billion more than we've already flushed down the toilet."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
What is ominous is the ease with which some people go from saying that they don't like something to saying that the government should forbid it. When you go down that road, don't expect freedom to survive very long. Thomas Sowell
