The Second Amendment Foundation announced today that thanks to continued overwhelming positive reaction to our �2nd Amendment First Responder� project, we have extended our national television campaign for a fourth consecutive week, scheduling 69 more spots on more than a dozen networks.

�By the end of next week,� said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, �our 60-second message will have been broadcast a total of 268 times, reaching millions of viewers. We�re able to extend our effort because of the growing positive response. It�s been astounding.�

The Pennsylvania Game Commission recently gave preliminary approval to expanding Sunday hunting. The proposal would not add more Sundays than the three that were added last year. It would, however, open the Sunday during archery deer and the Sunday during firearms bear season to other species, except migratory birds and wild turkey.

There is ample blame to go around for the MAGA insurgency that has so far resulted in eight deaths and left the rest of us on a knife's edge. A number of those charged for storming the Capitol have made it clear that they believed they were heeding on Donald Trump's call to action. Every Republican who acted as if Trump's claims of a stolen election had more validity than when he accused Ted Cruz of cheating his way to a victory in the Iowa Republican caucus in 2016 or said the Emmy Awards were rigged after "The Amazing Race" edged out "The Apprentice" is culpable to a degree.

Has Joe Biden fired the first subtle shot in his war on guns by �interfering in the affairs� of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and pausing publication of a new rule designed to protect small businesses �fair access� to bank surfaces?

That�s what The Outdoor Wire is reporting. After the OCC �paused publication� if the new rule, an official with the National Shooting Sports Foundation ripped the move.

Chicago Alderman Stephanie Coleman reacted to a surge in city carjackings by hiring a private firm to provide security for an hour each day in which residents can safely pump gas.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Coleman is calling the project, �Operation Safe Pump.� It is being launched at �Citgo on 63rd Street and the Dan Ryan Expressway, and the Shell at 55th and Halsted.�

An Ohio lawmaker says he wants to make sure the rights of gun-owners and those who want to own guns are a priority and that the federal government cannot infringe on those rights. State Rep. Mike Loychik, R-Bazette, plans to introduce legislation in the General Assembly next week that would, if passed and signed, make Ohio a second amendment sanctuary state, joining Idaho, Montana, Alaska and Kansas.

Rutherford County should end a policy to prohibit most employees from carrying concealed firearms, resident Edward Phillips contends. "They have the right to defend themselves, and that includes a weapon if they so choose," said Phillips, a former detention officer at the county jail who now works as a supervisor for a recycling plant in La Vergne.

It was a busy day for vendors at Saturday's Gun Show. Buyers packed the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center. Guns were the hot ticket item this weekend, with vendors reporting supplies flying off the shelves almost as fast as they can stock them.

After canceling its fall gun show in 2020, the Columbus Rifle Club will put on its spring gun show next month, CRC Gun Show Chairman Craig Potthast said. The CRC will ask residents to mask up for the show and provide masks to those without them. Officials will also provide hand sanitizer, so those handling guns or weapons can keep clean. The show will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14 at Ag. Park.

The Iowa Legislature has passed a resolution to add gun rights language to the Iowa Constitution. If approved by voters, it will make Iowa one of only four states with language that could make it easier to strike down gun laws. Republican lawmakers approved the resolution Thursday. It will go to voters in the November 2022 general election.

A sporting goods employee that "feared for his life" shot a robbery suspect in the chest after he tried to use a hammer to smash glass, protecting firearms in the store, according to police. Authorities said a 37-year-old man was shot Jan. 28 by an employee of the Yeager's Sporting Goods on Northwest Avenue. The suspect was using a hammer to smash the glass on a gun case with the intention of stealing several guns, authorities said.

In the past few years, a lot more people have been turning to taxi and delivery services as part of the new gig economy. Carpenter, West Virginia�s bear project leader, had a feeling as early as mid-September that the state�s bear hunters might be in for a record-breaking season. He was right. They not only broke the record, they shattered it. Between Aug. 29 and Jan. 17, they killed 3,541 bears, 11 percent more than they killed in 2015, when they set the previous record.

The city recently joined a growing list of municipalities in Idaho that have passed resolutions declaring themselves �Second Amendment sanctuary cities.� The Gooding City Council unanimously approved a resolution making this declaration during its Jan. 19 meeting. Mayor Jeff Brekke said the point is to affirm the city�s support of the second amendment, as well as the city�s opposition to laws that the council feels infringe on residents� rights to bear arms.

Washington state lawmakers are not letting a mostly online legislative session prevent them from introducing controversial proposals. A bill to ban the open carry of firearms at all demonstrations and on the state Capitol campus in Olympia, known as Senate Bill 5038, passed out of committee last week.

Sightings and nuisance reports about black bears more than doubled in New Jersey from 2019 to 2020. Their population also doubled in the last two years, figures show. In 2019, state residents reported 169 bear sightings, a year later the number jumped to 349, according to Department of Environmental Protection figures.

The Greene County Sheriff is calling two recently proposed Missouri Bills misguided and says they will hamstring officers. Sheriff Arnott says Senate Bill 39 and House bill 85 currently call for any officer who shares firearm-related information with Federal agencies to be fired.

There�s a legend about a cowboy out in the woods with a pistol on his side, when it started to rain. This old cowpoke put on a jacket and, just like that, was hassled by law enforcement for carrying an illegally concealed firearm. The story always seemed fishy to me, but it�s been told so many times around Utah�s Capitol that it has taken on a life of its own.
