"Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., the nation's largest firearms manufacturer, is pleased to announce that on February 10, 2005, the First Appellate District, Division One, in the Court of Appeals of the State of California, unanimously affirmed that the 'unfair trade practice' and 'public nuisance' lawsuits filed by San Francisco, Berkeley, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Compton, Inglewood, and West Hollywood, and the counties of San Mateo and Alameda, were properly dismissed by the trial court ..."

"This is the latest in a long string of cases at both the trial and appeals court levels holding that manufacturers of lawfully-sold, non-defective firearms are not legally at fault if these products are subsequently illegally acquired or misused by criminals."

"A Second Amendment rights group is applauding a California appeals court decision to dismiss anti-gun lawsuits brought by several California cities and counties."

"The lawsuit, which was originally dismissed by a state superior court judge in March 2003, was filed by Berkeley, Compton, Inglewood, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, and West Hollywood as well as the counties of San Mateo and Alameda. The First Appellate District, Division One, in the Court of Appeals of the state of California upheld the dismissal."

"The Second Amendment Foundation Friday called the case, 'clearly one more in a series of dismissals of a frivolous legal action against a highly-regulated industry. ...'"

"Morgan Sheriff Greg Bartlett said authorities released Terry Lynn Davis after viewing a tape of the March 2004 shooting that was recorded by a home audio-video surveillance system."

"Davis and Jeffrey Frank Hann, 36, also of Lacey's Spring, were arguing because Hann did not want him to have a key to the garage they shared."

With his city's police force poised to become the first in California to stop responding to most burglar alarms, Fremont insurance salesman Dennis Wolfe is urging his fellow citizens to arm themselves.

"Police Chief O'Leary is right in withholding a gun license from someone with a history of anti-social behavior (page one story Feb. 3). To issue one would probably violate the Brady Law. More particularly the story contains one frequently encountered misstatement: That the former licensees were denied '..attempts to exercise the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.' "

"No such right exists. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled six times since 1939 that there is no individual right to own and bear arms. The Second Amendment, which at least one high court jurist has advocated repealing because it is so often misinterpreted, states that only members of a well-regulated militia have any constitutional gun right. ..."

"The right of individuals to own firearms is clear under the Constitution. But with rights come responsibilities. All gun owners should practice strict self-discipline when it comes to handling their firearms. Virtually every gun accident is the result of a failure to follow basic safety procedures. And they're all preventable."

"But Utah Sen. Mark Madsen, a Republican from Eagle Mountain, is drafting a law (SB 175) that would give gun owners the legal go-ahead to be unsafe. He wants the State of Utah to give its blessing to loaded firearms in motor vehicles."

"A gun barrel to the head was enough to convince Sen. Jim King to favor broadening the state's deadly force laws. Another senator on the Criminal Justice Committee also is a believer after twice facing intruders in her bedroom."

"The National Rifle Association-backed bill establishes a legal presumption a home intruder is there to do bodily harm. Any use of deadly force by a homeowner is then justified by definition. The same presumption applies to someone who forcibly enters a car."

It appears that all it takes is a gun to a politicians head to make him learn.

" 'Second Amendment enthusiasts arent wild about guns, were wild about Liberty.' Thus begins Section II of John Longeneckers first book, The Battle We Fight. Straight talk is Longeneckers style throughout the book, and it succeeds well to convey his message of liberty, common sense, and the vital importance of the right to keep and bear arms."

"Gun ownership, and the right to carry firearms, are not about hobby shooting or exuding macho prowess. Longenecker explains that firearms ownership and carrying have to do with the private right and duty to protect yourself and your family and the right and duty to protect the community by deterring and stopping violent crime."

Submitter's Note: I called the number of the plant and got a customer service rep named Brenda on the line. I told her I was Sergeant Beall of the Gun Owners Of America and asked her if the company had a policy preventing employees from carrying guns on the premises.
