If a defensive use of a firearm goes unreported in the media and nobody hears about it, does it really count?
Im happy to report that the answer is a resounding yes, and I have evidence to prove it.
A man who was patrolling his employers property to protect it from thieves, confronted by an apparent carjacker, drew his legally carried firearm and subdued the stranger as police officers arrived and arrested the man. |

All gun control bills share the same basic goal: a world in which fewer people own firearms. Some bills simply ban certain types of firearms or ammunition outright. Others place obstacles in the path of owning firearms or ammunition to make them more difficult and expensive to obtain, thereby shrinking the market for them. The fundamental flaw of these approaches is that they treat all law-abiding firearm owners as would-be criminals, when the reality is that most firearm-related assaults and homicides are committed by people who completely disregard the law, including laws against taking human life. |

Rittenhouse's attorneys argued that threats have forced Rittenhouse into hiding. He moved into an undisclosed "safe house" after conservative groups posted his initial $2 million bail in November. His attorneys say they have offered to reveal his current address to prosecutors but only if they would agree to keep it sealed.
"It is of concern to the defense that any information regarding Kyle's location being publicly available would result in immediate harm to the Rittenhouse family," Mark Richards, one of Rittenhouse's attorneys, wrote in a filing.
Binger refused to make a deal, saying a murder defendant's address is public record. |

I am endlessly amused when I hear a gun owner tell me, I am not political, or, I stay out of politics. In a perfect world, our liberties would be secure enough that we could ignore politics at our convenience. However, we dont live in a perfect world and there are political forces hell-bent on taking your constitutional rights away from you. If you believe in maintaining the tools and skills to defend yourself from evil, then congratulations on preparing for that fight, should it come to you. However, you need to be an active combatant in a second fight: the fight to maintain your liberty. |

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who promised to go national with her issues after Democrats unseated her from two House committees, opened with a bang today in proposing legislation to create a national gun sanctuary.
Her Second Amendment Preservation Act would bar federal funds for any gun control effort and block the sometimes heavy-handed Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from enacting any new rules. |

Legislation to outlaw so-called ghost guns in New Mexico is advancing in the state House of Representatives, over the objection of gun owners who say it would violate both the first and second amendments.
House Bill 166 would make it a fourth-degree felony for anybody other than a licensed firearms dealer to use a three-dimensional printer to make guns or gun parts. It would also make it illegal to distribute instructions on how to use a 3-D printer to manufacture a gun; and to sell, possess or transfer any gun or gun parts made in violation of the law. |

There are only five states which currently ban the open carry of handguns in most public areas, most of the time. They are: Illinois, New York, California, Florida, and South Carolina. New Jersey and Hawaii ban open carry in practice, but legally, anyone with a permit can open carry. It is just extremely difficult to obtain a permit.
South Carolina is moving toward restoring the right to openly carry handguns in public with House Bill 3094, labeled Open Carry with Training. |

In the past two weeks, KMVT has brought viewers stories of cities that have decided to become a Second Amendment Sanctuary City. A Twin Falls man now wants his city leaders to do the same.
Sixty-seven-year-old Lanny Denton is an advocate for the Second Amendment and peoples rights to bear arms, and he is concerned that there are currently three U.S. House bills aimed at restricting peoples gun rights: H.R 127, H.R. 130, and H.R. 121. He feels in recent years it seems as though the Second Amendment has been under attack. |

For 10 years, Doug and Kristin daSilva have operated Red Rock Firearms in Enid on the premise of promoting the sport of shooting, gun safety and a strong belief in the second amendment.
Doug says the nation's forefathers put in the right to bear arms right behind the freedom of speech and religion.
"Without that, you can't guarantee anything else,' he said. "It is literally a production of our liberties.' |

While a lot of attention is rightfully being paid to the threat posed by HR 127, the Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act that we have covered earlier this month and in the last Congress, there are other bills targeting our Second Amendment rights. As of this writing, a search for the term firearm under legislation in the 117th Congress reveals 29 entries.
Not all of them are massive assaults on our rights. Some are relatively minor, or they seem neutral but the lead sponsor of the legislation means that they require significant scrutiny. One such bill is HR 121, the Gun Violence Reduction Resources Act of 2021. The lead sponsor is Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee, who also introduced HR 127. |
