If you ask just about any grey-haired shooter, Hows your hearing? you will likely get an answer of, Hows that? or Say again? often with one ear cocked toward you. Fact is, guns make a lot of noise, and that noise will damage your hearing, especially if you dont wear adequate hearing protectionor ear pro in range lexicon. None of this is news; shooters have complained about noise for more than a century.

Christmas came early last year for supporters of the Second Amendment, as the U.S. House of Representatives passed House Resolution 38 (H.R. 38), the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, on Dec. 6. National Right-to-Carry reciprocity has long been the NRAs top legislative priority. H.R. 38 is by far the strongest, most comprehensive version of this legislation weve seen to date. Its movement through the House was an historic development in Congress protection of our right to keep and bear arms.

Two Republican lawmakers proposed removing the requirement that concealed carry instructors offer both the regular training and the enhanced training under an expanded concealed handgun law approved last year. The law allows concealed handgun licensees to carry at the new locations if they undergo up to eight hours in additional training.

The National Firearms Act of 1934 is a tricky thing. If you have a rifle with a 16-inch barrel, then you are in full compliance with the NFA. If you have a rifle that has a 15.9-inch barrel, then you are guilty of a crime. The ATF would like you to pay a fee of $200 for a tax stamp, provide fingerprints, mug shots, and wait months and months for the honor of owning a short barreled rifle.

As one of the most diverse firearms manufacturers in the world, it was inevitable that some of Rugers products would wind up in the gun games. American gunmakers produced more than 11 million firearms in 2016, setting a new annual record and doubling yearly output from 2009, according to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). The obvious instant analysis of the industrys growth is to attribute it to fears about the erosion of gunowners rights under the Obama administration and the near-hysteria over the prospect of gun control matriarch Hillary Clinton being elected president in 2016.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Some writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins ... Society is in every state a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. THOMAS PAINE
