House Bill 643, sponsored by Representative Adam Schnelting (R-104), is a companion to Senate Bill 39. These important self-defense bills would remove the prohibition on law-abiding citizens carrying firearms for self-defense on public transit property and in vehicles. In addition, they would also allow law-abiding citizens to transport unloaded or non-functioning firearms on buses. These bills would repeal an arbitrary gun-free zone that does nothing to hinder criminals while leaving law-abiding citizens defenseless.

Youre working behind the bar at a roadside bar and grill. Some customers have already come in after work on a Friday night. You look up to see a stranger come through the door. Hes wearing black pants, a black jacket, a black ski mask, and purple rubber gloves. He doesnt take off his winter clothes but walks toward straight toward the bar. Your hand is already headed towards your gun as the robber pulls up his jacket reaching for his waistline. Your gun comes up and the man in black turns around and runs.

You call the police. They said another bar down the road was robbed by a man fitting your robbers description.

A panel of Utah lawmakers has approved a measure to strengthen the state's stand-your-ground self-defense law.

Republican Rep. Cory Maloy's proposal approved Tuesday would make it clear that people don't need to try to run away before using force, including deadly force. It now moves to the House floor.

If someone is prosecuted for using force, courts couldn't hear evidence about whether the person tried to flee first. He says that will keep people from being "re-victimized" after they've had to defend themselves.

We looked through the FBI data and found that since 2014, the number of handgun murders continues to steadily increase.

Illinois enacted the Firearm Concealed Carry Act in July, 2013.

The law allows people to carry handguns outside of their homes for self-defense - something many thought would reduce senseless crimes.

The AR-15 that the NRA says is a perfect Valentines Day gift is designed especially for women and features a pink trigger.

A crowning jeweljust like your special lady, says the NRA Family web page.

Who cares that Valentines Day is the first anniversary of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where a 19-year-old armed with a legally purchased AR-15 killed 17 classmates?

A companion Senate bill, SB 12, sponsored by state Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, has been filed in that GOP-controlled chamber.

Gov. Kevin Stitt, R, signaled his support of constitutional carry soon after the bill carried the House, saying, I have said from the very beginning I would sign legislation that places Okla in the ranks with 12 other states allowing Constitutional Carry. HB 2597 received overwhelming support in the House, & I applaud leadership for advancing a measure that supports Oklahomans #2A rights.

By extension, the point goes much further. However, it just hasnt been discussed openly, for fear of tipping the socialists hands. If a person is watching sports at home, and consuming as much beer or other adult beverages as the game demands, why wouldnt the drunk driving rules apply to firearm possession indoors? Dont laugh; these rules already existin a slightly different form at home.

Democrats on Capitol Hill Tuesday added several more gun control bills to the hopper for the 116th Congress to include regulating downloadable gun files as well as many popular firearm magazines.

Some 29 Senate Dems lead by Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, allied with House Democrats spearheaded by Florida Congressman Ted Deutch, announced their Keep Americans Safe Act, which would ban the import, sale, manufacture, transfer, or possession of firearm magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition. Those prosecuted under the bill could see as much as five years in prison.

As I first gripped the Dan Wesson Enhanced Commander Pistol or ECP, it felt like the handshake of an old friend. But on inspection I discovered that friend had received a makeover.

Dan Wesson Firearms of Norwich, New York, started more than 50 years ago as a manufacturer of high-quality revolvers. Acquired by CZ USA in 2005, the company has gained a solid reputation in the 1911 pistol market, and the new ECP is the latest proof of that.

A small county in eastern New Mexico declared itself a Second Amendment Sanctuary County on Wednesday in protest of pending gun control legislation in the state.

The Quay County Commission voted unanimously to pass the resolution, Albuquerque's KRQE-TV reported.

The states House Republicans commended the move in a statement, saying they are proud of Quay County, with its population of about 10,000 citizens, for standing up for the rights of New Mexicans. Republican lawmakers represent the minority in both the states House and Senate.

One of the Democrats' first major moves of the new Congress was introducing major gun control legislation. Now that they have control of the House, anti-gunners feel confident they can pass universal background checks and red flag laws. Our only hope in blocking these bills: the Republicans in the Senate (and even there, some have been wishy-washy on their support for the Second Amendment).

The state attorney general has stepped in with a warning to more than half the states county law enforcement officials who say they refuse to fully enforce the gun control measures voters approved in November.

Police chiefs and sheriffs will be held liable if they refuse to perform background checks required by I-1639, said Attorney General Bob Ferguson on Tuesday in an open letter to the law enforcement officers who oppose the measure.

I will defend Initiative 1639 against any challenge, wrote Ferguson. My office defeated the legal challenge to the previous gun safety initiative passed by the people, and I am confident we will defeat any constitutional challenge to Initiative 1639 as well.

On Wednesday, February 13th, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed House Bill 1581 on a bipartisan, unanimous vote, 113-0. An early morning shooting at a home in Prairieville has deputies trying to figure out if its a case of self defense, which could mean no charges for the homeowner.

Wade Duty, lawyer and co-owner of Precision Firearms, says in this type of situation, there are two laws that apply to anyone in Louisiana.

Its not a hunting license, it is a legal status that you enjoy simply by lawfully occupying those three locations, said Duty.

The three locations hes referring to include a home anyone lawfully lives in, a business, and a vehicle.

Duty also teaches concealed carry classes in which he teaches the reasonable man standard and the castle doctrine.

Thursday is the one-year anniversary of the Parkland, Florida high school shooting and two Congressional Democrats are marking the occasion to reintroduce a bill banning the sale of high capacity magazines for guns.

"A high capacity magazine that holds 30 or 60 or even 90 rounds of ammunition is not for hunting and it's not for self-defense," Sen. Bob Menendez (D - New Jersey) said. "High capacity magazines are designed for one thing and that's high capacity killing."

The charges stemmed an incident in September 2017, when Collier robbed a church security guard at gunpoint, according to a Horry County Police report.

Seth Oskin, the assistant solicitor who prosecuted the case, said: (Collier) robbed the victim of $20 at gunpoint, demanded more money and when he did not receive it, fired the gun into the victims vehicle door. The victim returned gunfire and shot Collier six times.

San Mateo County supervisors have taken a step toward requiring gun owners to keep their firearms locked in a storage container in their homes.

Some gun owners worry that the ordinance infringes on their rights while other residents have expressed support for any measure that may keep weapons out of the wrong hands.

Similar laws have faced court challenges, but the authors of this one believe they are on firm legal ground.

In the years since, California's progressive politicians have layered on restrictions while gun owners and manufacturers continue to try to find their way out of them.

The battle continues. New Gov. Gavin Newsom denounced "a gun lobby willing to sacrifice the lives of our children to line their pockets." A National Rifle Association spokesperson predicts the Trump-altered U.S. Supreme Court means "winter may very well be coming for gun laws in California." So while Newsom and the Democratic Legislature try to add new restrictions, gun advocates are going to court to overturn existing ones.
