My first "real" gun was a Ruger 10/22, which shoots 22 long rifle, while my first concealed carry pistol was a Smith & Wesson 9mm Shield. My grandfather owns a varmint gun chambered in 22 Mag, which we often shot growing up.
To say I have a lot of experience with both calibers as a gun owner is an understatement. |

Welcome to todays Photo of the Day! The Frankenau Purse Gun was a highly unusual concealed carry pistol patented in 1876. Hidden inside what appeared to be a normal ladies coin purse, one side flipped open to reveal a 5-shot pinfire revolver. The purses other side functioned normally with accordion pockets for money. A hinged muzzle cover and folding trigger kept the purse guns true nature concealed until needed. To fire, the user released a catch to open the revolver compartment and extend the trigger. Frankenaus clever design provided surreptitious self-defense in a compact package. |

If you arent familiar with tip-up guns, dont worry, youre not alone. Before learning about the Girsan MC 14T, I knew nothing about them. I vaguely remember seeing old Beretta tip-ups, which came and went before I was into firearms. I have a thing for pretty pistols, so when EAA asked if I wanted to take the Lady Tip-Up for a spin, the answer was an enthusiastic yes! After spending some time with this unique gun, I have some thoughts, so lets dive in.

The mallards took a quick look at the spread and kept on booking. They were high in the sky with the afterburners on. Maybe they were en route to yesterdays buffet, or maybe they saw something they didnt quite like. It didnt matter cause your guide hit em with a mix of calls. There were a few comebacks, a begging hail call and when they got closer the quacks and contented feeding chuckle sucked em in. In waterfowl hunting, everyone works together as a team and here are some things your guide would love you to do. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms....The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Thomas Jefferson in a letter to William S. Smith in 1787.
