"Tristine Skyler has written a piece for HuffPo looking back on the Tucson shooting of more than a year ago. She hoists the bloody shirts of the victims and waves them enthusiastically, attempting to capitalize on the empathy we all have for people who have suffered a loss and then asks. . .""So what does 'after' look like? And what is the progress of the crucially important Fix Gun Checks movement sponsored by the Mayors Against Illegal Guns coalition as we enter into 2012, with a recent second shooting at Virginia Tech bringing back only too fresh memories of a massacre there that still haunts a community?" |

"I blame Nutnfancy. Or maybe Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. Either way, Ive had a jones to pimp out a rifle with a Duracoat camo job for a while now, and my Century AK-74 seemed like a the perfect volunteer for my experiment. Its a cheap rifle with a plain-jane black finish, and if I somehow managed to make it uglier I could always just paint it black again. Why camouflage? For the hell of it. Why Duracoat? Because Krylon is useless on guns, and Im not enough of a gunsmith to attempt using more exotic (and expensive) bake-on gun finishes . . ." ... |

"Newly released data show that Pennsylvania ranks #1 in the nation for the most guns 'missing' from licensed gun shops with no record of sale, with more than 6,000 guns missing from Pennsylvania gun shops over three years. Pennsylvania gun dealers alone accounted for 10% of all guns reported 'missing' from the nations gun shops from 2008 to 2010." ... -------
KABA Note: 10% of the total means 60,000 guns over three years which sounds like an awful lot until you realize that there were something in excess of 27 million guns sold in that period. So, 0.22% of guns sold were lost. Also keep in mind that the ATF considers a gun "lost" if inventory shows a serial number of 1191 and the actual number is 1911. |

Are you familiar with the priority of treatment of various injuries? Those of us in the CCW/gun community place great value on self reliance. Ohio sheriffs set a new record issuing almost 12,000 CHLs for the busiest fourth quarter in the program's eight year history. Demand was up 12% compared to the same period a year earlier.
