In 2001, as part of a group of short magnum cartridges released in the early years of the new millennium, Winchester released the first of its Short Magnums the .300 Winchester Short Magnum, commonly referred to as .300 Win Short Mag or .300 WSM. Designed for American hunters, the ammunition used a standard .300 caliber bullet, but the .300 WSM appeared like a short, stubby-looking round compared to its .300 caliber siblings.

Just before the turn of the 19th century, the 6.5x57mm Mauser was introduced to be fired from rifles built with the M88 action. Despite this, no military ever adopted the cartridge, yet European and American civilian hunters have used the 6.5x57mm with great effect on medium-sized game.

When Kimber introduced its K6s revolver line, it became the smallest steel-framed six-shot revolver capable of handling the .357 Mag. cartridge. Constructed from stainless steel and designed for concealed carry, the models featured a double-action-only trigger, smoothed contours, fixed sights, recessed cylinders and a fully-enclosed internal hammer. Available in either 2- or 3-inch barrels with fixed sights, they weighed a modest 23 and 25 ounces, respectively. Both were solid choices for concealed carry but obviously small for any serious competition use.

The Kentucky 2021 legislative session is under way and these two bills in the General Assembly are of great importance to the future of our constitutional rights.

House Bill 175 prohibits financial institutions from discriminating against firearm businesses. Anti-gun banks and their executives have expressed interest in denying services to the firearm industry as a way to further their political agenda and impose gun control by making such business impossible when legislatures wont bend to their will.

Modern sporting rifles have gained popularity over the past several years. If youre new to shooting and looking for a rifle, AR-15s make a great beginner platform. An AR-15, contrary to what many uneducated in the field of firearms believe, is not an assault rifle. The AR stands for ArmaLite Rifle, after the company that originally developed the gun in 1956 and later sold the rights to Colt.

February 14th is the third anniversary of the attack in Parkwood, Florida. Im convinced that gun control leaves us at risk. I know you might feel differently and I beg you to hear me out. I think gun control laws put our children in danger, but that isnt because Im different than you are; it is because Ive seen things you might not have seen.

Ive looked into the eyes of the police officer who ran toward the sound of gunfire to save kids. Ive listened to a victim who was shot by a mass murderer and survived. They want what we all want.

On 11 February 2021, there was a hearing requested by the Kenosha District Attorneys office in the self-defense case involving Kyle Rittenhouse. The shooting occurred during the riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on 25 August 2020. Judge Schroeder of Kenosha presided over the virtual hearing, which was done on Zoom. The hearing was contentious. Judge Schroeder schooled DA Thomas Binger on the law, bond procedure, and the facts several times during the hearing. In the end, the judge denied Bingers requests and forbade the DAs office from accessing the location of Kyle Rittenhouses abode.

While Second Amendment rights are under attack in Washington, D.C., the State of Utah is sending a message to would-be federal gun grabbers. On Friday, new Governor Spencer Cox signed legislation that will allow Utah residents 21 year-of-age and older to carry a concealed firearm without any permit. The new law, referred to as constitutional carry by many, will go into effect in May and will allow gun owners to carry concealed guns without an FBI background check and without a training course of any kind.

Exactly two years ago, Abby Parks lost her husband and her son lost his father when Clayton Parks was among the five people fatally shot by an aggrieved worker at the Henry Pratt warehouse in suburban Aurora. Clay had such a charismatic personality. He was determined and hardworking and loved by everyone that knew him. But he was only 32 when he died and he had so much more life to life, Parks said on Monday during a Zoom event organized by the Gun Violence Prevention PAC. Part of honoring Clays memory means addressing the fact that Clay and the four others taken that day could still be with us if illegal guns were not left in the hands of people with revoked FOID cards.

Getting 7.62x39 to be reliable in an SBR has been a challenge until now. The Maxim Defense PDX is one of the coolest guns to hit the market recently, and we got a chance to take it for a test drive at F.I.R.E. Expo in Florida this year. This little gun features the firepower of an AK while reaching just 18.75 inches in overall length. Its designed for close-quarters combat and first response, with the small size making it easy to maneuver in tight spaces. It is offered in three calibers: 5.56 NATO, 300 BLK, and 7.62x39.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821)
