I have been reloading for over 45 years and casting my own bullets for almost as long. The main reason I got into loading and casting, like many others, was to make my shooting dollars go farther. Over the years my first single-stage RCBS Rock Chucker which I still use for some cartridges has morphed into much more equipment. It has become a major investment.

Odd-looking primer strikes such as those above dont necessarily suggest a problem with a particular gun or its ammo. They could merely be an element of a particular firearms design, but they might require further attention. I have several brands and sizes of 1911 pistols as well as a SIG Sauer P220 and P245, all chambered in .45 ACP.

When it comes to shotgun ammunition, there are plenty of choices. And while most shooters are very familiar with certain types, like the 00 buck, each bullet size and pellet count is different. The size of the buckshot bullets, or shot, will decrease as the shot type number increases with buckshot for larger game and bird shot for smaller game. This means 000 buck is very large compared to #12 bird shot with #1 buck right in the middle.

When USPSA introduced Carry Optics (CO) as a provisional division in 2014 the concept was simpleit would be a Production division gun with a reflex sight. The gun had to be on the approved Production gun list, with the reflex sight mounted directly to the slide and not the frame. The magazine carriers and holster requirements were the same as Production, and regardless of the caliber chosen all scoring would be in Minor (125 PF).

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46
