Last summer, I had the opportunity to spend some quality time with a Heckler & Koch (HK) MP5 chambered in 9 mm. As the rangemaster explained the proper operation of that handy little submachine gun, it struck home that I've spent very little time getting to know the roller-delayed blowback action rifles like those that HK and other companies produce. The platforms have certainly earned a positive reputation on the battlefield with semi-automatic versions maintaining a devout civilian following here in the United States. |

Justice Antonin Scalia once said he would like to be succeeded on the Supreme Court by a federal judge who the National Rifle Association (NRA) once accused of trying to unravel the Bill of Rights.
While discussing his 2012 book "Reading Law: The Interpretation of Legal Texts," Scalia said he would want Judge Frank Easterbrook, of the U.S. Seventh Circuit, in the Midwest, to replace him. |

As I write this, Apple AAPL -1.92% CEO Tim Cook struggles with something other than the beating his companys taken amidst the recent market correction (as an Apple shareholder, these are words I didnt enjoy typing).
The problem: Cook is refusing to go along with a California judges order that Apple help the FBI break into the iPhone left behind by Syed Farook, one of the San Bernardino terrorists (law enforcements been trying to crack it open for two months now, to no avail).

A House committee dominated by Republicans advanced a bill Wednesday barring any government agency in Arizona from enforcing new federal firearms laws or regulations.
The prohibitions in House Bill 2300 were crafted by gun rights advocates who believe the federal government is poised to enact rules that violate the Second Amendment. "I think it's important that we protect Arizona gun owners to make sure the state doesn't cooperate with unlawful federal actions," said Michael Gibbs with the Arizona 10th Amendment Center.

A Supreme Court justice nominee appointed by President Barack Obama could do much to shift the ideological weight of a bench split now evenly among justices nominated by Republican and Democrat presidents.
In particular, the new justice could provide the deciding vote to overturn the District of Columbia v. Heller decision. In that landmark case, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that the 2nd Amendment protects the individuals right to possess and own a firearm.

This morning KOMO News reported that there will be an 11 a.m. launch of a ballot initiative to create so-called extreme risk protection orders in Washington State, but a Tuesday report from Baltimore underscores why an earlier gun control measure pushed by the same activists really doesnt prevent the wrong people from getting guns.
This new measure, according to KOMO, would empower family members and police to intervene if they see someone as a threat to themselves or others so that person cannot access a gun. It comes just days after formal legislation pushing the same idea died in the House Appropriations Committee. |

Since 2007, the number of CCW permit holders has more than doubled, with an estimated 13 million adults exercising their right to carry concealed guns. Those shooters, many of whom have never owned a gun in their lives, are prompting gun companies to build more innovative, user-friendly concealed carry guns. |

After years of making love to firearms in (almost) every conceivable way, the state legislature's Republican supermajority is mainly known for good or bad for expanding gun rights.
Yet for all the new places guns now are allowed bars, restaurants, public parks the state Capitol complex remains perhaps Tennessee's most prominent gun-free zone. That makes the stench of hypocrisy like dog dookie stuck to your shoe emanate |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Some writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins ... Society is in every state a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. THOMAS PAINE |
