"Congress doesnt need to hold hearings on this. They simply need to draft a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder and ATF Director B. Todd Jones demanding truthful and complete answers. This is all it will take. If the AG and Holder will answer honestly, this will be soon be resolved for good."
"Congress, you game? Will you oversee what we have elected you to monitor? The Department of Justice has already told the Court they are not willing to investigate the allegations made against them. Will you help me? I am only seeking the truth."

"The pro-rights gun blog Guns Save Lives reported Monday that Congressman Mike Honda (D-CA) introduced a bill earlier this month that would impose a 10-year prison sentence for the 'crime' of a private citizen obtaining 'enhanced' body armor:" ...
"As mentioned above, not all body armor would be banned--just the 'enhanced' kind. Honda defines 'enhanced' body armor as that which is rated by the National Institute of Justice as Type III or higher. Generally speaking, Type III body armor is rigid, designed to wear over one's clothes, and expected to protect against many kinds of centerfire rifle fire ... In short, Honda wants private citizens shot with rifles to die." ... |

... "The [NRA] ... swept through the south in its early incarnation, registering black members, teaching them the ins and outs of gun use and safety, pointing to firearms as a means of protecting their newly won rights after the Civil War. ..."
"And it was gun rights advocates and second amendment enthusiasts who stood shoulder to shoulder, at least the most honest and pure ones, with Black Panther groups and other black militant organizations throughout the 1960s against more establishment leaders and stalwarts such as Ronald Reagan and Lyndon Johnson as they led the charge to pass gun registration laws on the state and national levels. ..."

... "Anti-gun advocates, meanwhile, have always said the opposite -- that Americans do not have an inherent, constitutional right to 'keep and bear arms' (outside of an organized militia), even for self-defense. Many of these people are journalists, by the way."
"Now, however, a number of formerly anti-gun reporters and correspondents are beginning to realize the importance of the Second Amendment as they digest what happened to cartoonists and writers working at a satirical magazine in Paris, France, recently."
"Unarmed and unprotected by Paris police (who are also unarmed), many are now concerned with their own safety in the newsroom." ... |

"The SHOT Show ... is the worlds largest gun show ... its intended for those in the trade, not the general public. Walking its almost 16 miles of booths is a near-marathon feat of endurance, and every mile exhibits more firepower than all the armies of the ancient world combined."
"But despite their formidable powers of self-defense, members of the firearms industry are a nervous lot and not without reason. Two years ago, after Newtown and the 2012 election, the show anxiously awaited President Obamas executive actions on gun control. ... This year, executive actions were back on the agenda: with the midterm elections now past, the industry fears theres nothing to stop the president from indulging his anti-firearms instincts." ... |

"It serves the interests of the gun lobby to paint the picture in such stark and simplistic terms, that the only option to gun violence is to ban guns. But it is a far from realistic portrayal. "Some anti-rights activists are sure the rules dont apply to them. They have armed bodyguards while they want to make sure youre disarmed. Simply stated, the rich gun-grabbers have one set of rules for them, and a different set of rules that apply to you. Listen to what they say and see what they do."

"The 7th Circuit federal court of appeals will hear a case against a local ban on some common rifles, handguns, shotguns, and magazines. The city of Highland Park, notorious for its anti-second amendment laws, passed an ordinance that requires residents to turn in, modify or remove the banned items from the city. ... The ordinance includes very broad boilerplate language. Some claim that the ordinance was lifted from the City of Chicago."
