Perhaps one of the most iconic military cartridges, the 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition, commonly referred to as the 5.56 NATO, has been in active use in the United States Armed Forces since 1964.

5.56x45 NATO ammo features a rimless and tapered bottleneck case that measures 44.70mm (1.76 inches) in length and ranges from a 6.43mm diameter at its neck to a 9.58mm diameter at its base. This casing houses a boat-tailed bullet with a diameter of 5.70mm, or .224 inch. With both bullet and shell, the 5.56 cartridge reaches 57.40mm (2.26 inch) in length.

Known by several names including .45-70 Government, .45 Government, and .45-70-45 the .45-70 was developed by the U.S. government and is one of their greatest cartridges. Even today, the cartridge retains the respect of hunters and shooting enthusiasts, and is one of the very few cartridges that has continued to thrive after being converted from using black powder to smokeless powder. The .45-70 was developed at the historic Springfield Armory in Massachusetts as a short-term replacement for the .50-70, which had been adopted just over a decade before.

We hear the question asked in every concealed carry class. 'When should I use my gun?' We save lives when we stop a lethal threat. Often we do that without pressing the trigger.

Lets look at a recent story of armed defense to see what happened and what might have happened differently.

A report at Fox News focuses on several instances in recent months when armed Chicago residents have fought back against crime during a time when Chicago police ranks have been shrinking.

It may be indicative of a trend extending far beyond the Windy City, according to reports from across the map. In Florida recently, a homeowner fatally shot a home invader in Lake County. In Connecticut, a shop owner killed one of two robbers, and was, himself, wounded in the incident. A suspected carjacker was shot to death in St. Louis when his intended victim turned out to be armed.

If truth is still the basis of a sound defense, then a letter from 16 state attorneys general to President Joe Biden (D) shouldif it gets deserved media attentionhelp to dispel Bidens anti-Second Amendment ambitions. The letter is a reaction to Bidens comments on our Second Amendment rights in his State of the Union address.

In response to the Bruen decision, a few states have decided to defy the Supreme Court.

The first was New York, which took the extraordinary step to declare an emergency, call the legislature into an emergency session, and pass a complicated, extensive statute which criminalized the carry of firearms in such a manner as to render carry outside the home impractical. In spite of several lawsuits contesting the New York law, other states have followed New Yorks example. One of those states is New Jersey. Bill A4769 (ACS) was passed into law on December 22, 2022.

One of the very first handguns that I ever saw up close was my dad's Belgian Baby Browning chambered in .25 ACP. I was fascinated by the fact that it was small enough to fit in the palm of his hand, and yet it was still a fully functional pistol. Once I was old enough to start buying handguns of my own, my enthusiasm for the smallest-of-the-small didn't waver.

President Joe Biden has demanded Congress take action to enact "common sense" gun reforms after a shooting rampage in Mississippi Friday left six dead. The demand came as he is turning a "blind eye" to Republicans and others who are calling for "common sense" changes to secure the border, a Republican lawmaker claimed.

The number of international companies that produce firearms or related gear that are opening factories or expanding in the United States has accelerated in recent years. Theres no doubt stateside demand is the primary motivation, along with the advantages of streamlined shipping and American enthusiasts preference for Made in U.S.A. labels.

This week marks one year since Russia invaded Ukraine. The war has been extremely costly for both sides. However, while the international community has condemned Russia for its aggression, Ukraine has received significant support from many European countries and the United States. The Biden administration has provided Ukraine with over$100 a billion in military equipment and humanitarian aid.

A recent meta-review of 12 other studies on the efficacy of trigger warnings conducted by Australian experimental psychologist Victoria Brigland confirms what clinical psychologists have long understood: trigger warnings don't work. Instead of reducing the stress students feel upon encountering sensitive subjects, they only make it worse.

For over 70 years, Ruger has been cranking out American rifles, shotguns, and handguns. But time and production costs take their toll on many firearms designs, even from a powerhouse like Ruger. Some of these are classics; others cult hits. Still more simply evolve over the years, yet shooters and collectors remain nostalgic for the originals.

Some folks dont realize that in a civilized society, the police exist to protect the criminal class as much as to keep them in check. Because when government cant or wont stop criminal behavior, gun owners will step up and enforce the rule of law in order to protect themselves. Unlike the police, the civilians are restrained by common sense, not volumes of rules, procedures and politics.

A group of attorneys general representing almost one-third of the country called out President Bidens recent "irresponsible, radical, and unconstitutional statements" in favor of a federal ban on common semi-automatic firearms.

The AGs, spearheaded by Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen and backed by colleagues in a further 15 states, penned a six-page public letter to the White House pointing out the bulwarks provided by the Constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms, both against "the petty tyranny of an armed criminal and the systematic tyranny of oppressive government."
