A proposal aimed at assuring Indiana residents they sometimes can resist police officers entering their homes could see a key change sought by law enforcement groups, the House sponsor said today.
Prosecutor and police groups have objected to a list of limited situations of when officers can legally enter a private home, which was included in the bill the Senate approved 45-5 last month. |

Dozens of firearm-related bills filed by Oklahoma lawmakers seek to, among other things, expand the states open carry laws, expand where guns may be legally kept and expand the scope of the self-defense law.
On Feb. 14 the House Judiciary Committee passed House Bill 2988 by Rep. Mike Ritze, R-Broken Arrow. The bill gives legal authority to use deadly force against dangerous individuals at a place of worship.
Ritze said the bill was inspired by several recent cases in which violence or threats involved places of worship in the state. |

Breitbart told "The Daily Caller" that of the big stories that the media is ignoring the "Fast & Furious" scandal is one of his top picks. He said that even those in Hollywood couldn't dream up a scenario where the government crafts a program with the "[purpose] of creating a narrative that they could use in America to try and thwart our Second Amendment constitutional rights."

After failing to persuade judges to dismiss charges under the provisions of the Stand Your Ground law, Donald Montanez will be allowed to ask jurors to consider the law in deciding whether to convict.
The controversial law derided by one gun-control advocate as the "right-to-commit-murder law" eliminated the legal requirement for people to retreat to a safer place before using deadly force to defend against a threat outside their home or business. Under the previous law, people who felt in danger could not use deadly force against attackers outside their homes unless they could not get away. |

People on either side of the gun rights debate in Virginia are looking to combat Monday's Senate passage of legislation that says it is OK to use deadly force against an intruder in your home if you feel threatened.
The "Castle Doctrine" bill, sponsored by Del. Richard P. "Dickie" Bell, R-Staunton, goes to Gov. Bob McDonnell after passing the state Senate with a 24-16 vote. It passed the House of Delegates on Feb. 9, with a 70-28 vote.
Both the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a gun rights group, and gun control supporters at the Virginia Center for Public Safety said they'll continue to oppose the bill. |

Eddie Fulmer took exception to the City of Tuscaloosas ban on firearms on city property.
Alabamas constitution forbids local governments from enacting gun-control legislation. But in April 2010, the City Council enacted an ordinance that stated anyone carrying a firearm on city property would be treated as a trespasser.
Thats taking away a mans right to self-defense, said Fulmer, a Tuscaloosa firefighter. Thats the city exercising gun control and taking away our right to self-defense. |

While he may be facing a felony charge, Dennis Fleming said he does not regret firing his gun Saturday when he stopped and detained a burglar who had entered his home and at least one other on Ten Rod Road.
Still, the 61-year-old grandfather of 14 said he might go about stopping the burglar a little differently next time.
"I should have called police and I recommend that everyone does," he said. "That aside, I'm glad I caught him."

Every time I read the Bill of Rights, I am struck by the wisdom our Founding Fathers demonstrated in pronouncing and protecting our natural rights. From religious liberty to protections on private property and the security we have in our own persons, our rights are essential to our humanity because our Creator saw fit to endow us with them. Moreover, because they flow from God to man rather than from government to man, our Founders designated them as off-limits to government encroachment. |

"I just want to be a little extra protected, I think women need to know it's OK to make yourself feel safe, and if that is owning a gun and learning how to use it correctly then that's what it should be," said Potaczala.
Potaczala grew up around guns but said she signed up for a women's firearm class at Ole Boy Outdoors to learn how to use one.
Potaczala is part of a growing trend. According to an annual Gallup Crime Survey from October, 23 percent of women reported owning a gun. That is up 13 percent from 2005. |

A new bill introduced this legislative session aims at amping up your second amendment rights.
"I can potentially defend myself and my wife in more places, which I like. I like having the ability to pretty much carry wherever I want just in case," Phillip Huckaby, an instructor at Shooters of Columbus, says.
If House Bill 981 passes, it would allow Georgians to carry concealed weapons in places like bars, public schools, college campuses and government buildings. |

The ISRA is condemning a proposal that would levy a 2% "sin tax" on retail ammunition sales in the state. Sponsored by Rep. Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago), HB5167 would exact the tax on law-abiding firearm owners as a means of funding a yet to be established "High Crime Trauma Center Grant Fund." Supposedly, this grant fund would provide funding to hospitals to cover the costs of treating indigents involved in violent crime.
The ISRA considers HB5167 to be a punitive infringement on the law-abiding citizen's constitutional right to keep and bear arms. |

Today, the Virginia Senate took action on four pro-gun bills previously passed by the House of Delegates. Of particular note, was the Senate passage of House Bill 48 by a 24 to 16 vote. This bill was amended by the Senate Courts of Justice Committee to address concerns that HB 48 would negatively impact your right to self-defense. This bill was previously in Criminal Code 18.2 but put into the Civil Procedures section, 8.01. In addition, the following language was added: This section shall not be construed to limit, withdraw, or overturn any defense or immunity already existing in statutory or common law prior to the effective date of this law. |

Don't mess with Old Man Leone, you hear? When Jay Leone of Greenbrae, California -- who happens to be 90 years of age -- found himself under fire by an armed home invader, he didn't throw his hands in the air and surrender. And when he was shot clear through the face, he didn't duck and hide. "I told him 'Now it's my turn!'" said Leone. Then he proceeded to return fire. "I said, 'F--- you, you son of a b-tch!" Leone told the Daily Mail. That "son of a b-tch," was none other than Samual Joseph Cutrufelli. Mr. Leone, a former Sheriff's deputy, actually hit Cutrufelli three times in the stomach before the two ended up wrestling on ground. |
