Jim Sable didnt plan to start a trap shooting revolution. But he did.
And now, 18 years after sowing its seeds, the founder of the Minnesota High School Clay Target League is retired again, this time from a national organization whose success has shattered long-held conventions about guns, teens and schools.
I retired at age 62 but apparently didnt have the knack for it, joked the 80-year-old visionary from Plymouth. This time my wife hopes I succeed. |

A police trainer claims his gun was stolen from a baggage carousel at San Francisco International Airport and is blaming United Airlines for the dangerous mishap. The unidentified man has since described the situation as a nightmare of anybody who owns a firearm.
As the mans flight was unexpectedly delayed, the firearm apparently made its way to SFO on another flight, without its owner. According to the outlet, the man reported that his gun was locked in a properly labeled container, as per Transportation Security Administration rules though the situation got unexpectedly out of hand.

A man who police said just wanted to buy an iPhone ended up shooting and killing a would-be robber in rural Galveston County.
The 38-year-old man answered an ad on the OfferUp app for a late-model iPhone for approximately $500 in cash, the Galveston County Sheriff Office said.
The man agreed to meet the seller about 5 a.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Lilley, a rural area northwest of Santa Fe, because one of the men said he had to go to work early, GCSO said.
The 38-year-old man arrived at the spot and met with 17-year old Joshua Wooten. |

Kevin Dixie is the owner of No Other Choice Firearms Training. He has been training the average everyday citizen for nearly 16 years. It doesn't matter the person's walk of life or how much experience someone has under their belt KD has a training class for them.
KD wanted to do more than just teach people how to shoot guns. He wanted to do community outreach. Gun ownership cannot survive in a bubble. Without winning the hearts and minds of the non-gun owners the gun community cannot survive. We cannot afford to forgo outreach. |

The Glock 26 Gen 5 has been out for some time now, but after nearly a year of ownership, about 1,000 rounds down range, and some modifications I feel I have gotten to know the sub-compact pistol rather well. While this isn't my main squeeze when choosing a CCW, it does fill a role in between my ATEi Glock 19 and my TXT Custom Gunworks Glock 43. Even though it isn't the gun I generally go for, the baby Glock still holds a prominent place in my safe and is shot far more often than my Glock 43. |

Even today, African Americans struggle to maintain equal protection under the second amendment. A recent example is the death of Emantic Bradford Jr. Bradford was an army recruit with a concealed carry permit. While shopping in a Georgia mall, shots rang out. Bradford pulled out his weapon and directed shoppers to safety. As police entered the scene, they shot Bradford in the back three times. They told the media that Bradford was the shooter, and praised the killer as the real hero of the situation. |

If the Legislature is laser-focused on passing H.B. 2519, The Campus Self Defense Act, then West Virginia University remains just as focused on making sure a number of requested exemptions make it into the final version of the law.
Rob Alsop, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at WVU, said theres already been good dialogue on the bill as WVU works to convince legislators to adopt a number of exemptions to the proposed law that would allow for concealed carry on college campuses. |

Missouri does have a law that allows you to use your gun if you're under threat at home or in your vehicle. But that law has some very specific limits.
"We have people who come in and say 'If someone breaks into my car, I'm going to shoot them,'" said Paul Bastean, a former Police Officer and the current owner of Ultimate Defense Shooting Range.
But shooting a carjacker isn't something you should aim for if they already have your vehicle, according to Bastean.
Missouri law allows you to use deadly force for self-defense specifically in your home or in your vehicle but you can't use deadly force to protect your property. |

The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Wednesday that states cannot impose excessive fees, fines and forfeitures as criminal penalties.
The decision, which united the courts conservatives and liberals, makes clear that the Eighth Amendments prohibition against excessive fines applies to states and localities as well as the federal government.
Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, just back in court this week after lung cancer surgery, wrote the majority opinion and announced it from the bench. |

A bill to allow college students to carry concealed weapons on campus and in dorms was fast tracked Wednesday night.
Delegates voted 51-47 to bring House Bill 2519 directly to the floor. That bill, called the Campus Self Defense Act, would require colleges to permit students to carry concealed weapons on campus, except in certain circumstances.
An amended version of the bill was passed out of the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday, but committee members recommended that it first go through the House Finance Committee for further scrutiny. |

More than 300 volunteers from the gun safety group Moms Demand Action visited the State Capitol Wednesday to lobby lawmakers about gun legislation.
The group opposes the Constitutional Carry Act of 2019, which would do away with weapons carry licenses in Georgia. Currently, applicants must go through a background check and pay fees totaling about $75 to obtain a carry permit.
"We just think it's fundamentally wrong that the government would charge citizens on a natural right and that's of self-defense and defending your family and yourself," explained State Rep. Matt Gurtler, R -Tiger, the bill's primary sponsor. |

In the aftermath of the massacre at a Parkland high school that took the lives of 17 students and teachers one year ago, a state Senate panel advanced a plan on Tuesday that would arm teachers at public schools in Florida.
The proposal (SPB 7030) was approved with a 5-3 vote along party lines.
The school guardian program (under the bill) came into formation in March of 2018, a month after one of the most deadly mass shootings in Floridas history, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. With 17 dead, and 17 severely injured, the shooting caused a national uproar, as it was also the most deadly shooting at a high school in the United States. |

FOX 25 asked Gov. Kevin Stitt on Wednesday if he would sign the bill. He said:
"I haven't looked at entire bill yet, but yes. I was very clear on the campaign trail that I was supportive of constitutional carry. We'll monitor it and make sure there are no changes coming out of the senate but I'm very supportive of second amendment and look forward to signing it."
The bill now heads off to the full senate. |

As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight. And it is in such twilight that we all must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. Justice William O. Douglas, US Supreme Court (1939-75) |
