A long-held mantra of the self-defense community is that you are on your own. Also common is the notorious quip, When seconds count, police are only minutes away. The sentiment of such sayings is that reality dictates the police can only be in so many places at one time and that response times are likely too long to matter when you face a violent attack. However, even such harsh reality is now far out of date. The current, absolute reality is that no matter what the threat may be, police are likely never to come at all. Not even long after it matters.

When the US Army announced that the SIG 277 Fury was the winner of the Next Generation Squad Weapon program (NGSW) contract in 2022, it took many American shooters by surprise (myself included).
Ive got a lot of questions that Id like to propose to top Army brass about this decision, but none are more prescient than this:
Why not just go back to 308 Winchester? |

The District of Columbia's ban on firearm magazines that hold over ten rounds was the subject of oral argument in the D.C. Circuit on February 13. The case is Hanson v. District of Columbia, and the appeal concerns the district court's denial of a preliminary injunction against enforcement of the ban. The circuit panel included Judges Patricia Millett ('13) and Justin Walker ('20), and Senior Judge Douglas Ginsburg ('86).

Throughout the month of February, America celebrates Black History Month. There is much to celebrate for the contributions African Americans have made to our nation. That includes within the firearm industry and as gun owners. That history, of course, isnt without controversy. There is still progress to be made. The history of Black Americans and firearm ownership has advanced far beyond what it was at the nations founding. That history, however, isnt meant to be swept under the rug. It is an important lesson that all Americans, from all walks of life, should understand for how it impacts our fundamental freedoms including Second Amendment rights.

The Florida Republican supermajority has shown what they truly think of gun owners in the Gunshine State. And its clear that they think the protection and restoration of your Second Amendment rights dont matter.

For just $10.77, people can go on Amazon and buy wall art of Ronald Reagan apparently defending the Second Amendment.
Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered, the text reads next to a picture of Reagan; any attempts to disarm the people must be stopped, by force if necessary.

Strange events are occurring in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. In the Ninth Circuit, it has become clear that when a three-judge panel finds in favor of the Second Amendment as a fundamental part of the Bill of Rights, the case will be sent to an en banc panel to be reversed by the full court. Most of the time, the Ninth Circuit would wait for the three-judge panel to publish their decision before sending the case to the en banc panel. In the Fourth Circuit, en banc panels are snatching cases away from three-judge panels before a decision is made and an opinion is published. |

The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention has become a significant threat to our guns and our civil rights.
When the office was unveiled in September 2023, President Joe Biden said it would centralize, accelerate, and intensify our work to save more lives more quickly. Thats what it was designed to do. It will drive and coordinate a government and nationwide effort to reduce gun violence. |

First, lets get this out of the way: kudos to the principal of Ontario Christian High School, Benjamin Dykhouse, for preventing a mass casualty incident at his school. RedStates Jennifer Oliver OConnell wrote about the chilling story. There appears to have been a plot to kill at least five students. One of the targets got wind of the attack and reported Sebastian Villaseor, 18, to Dykhouse of the threat, which led to authorities being informed. |

The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which almost always sides with California state officials on matters of gun control, took the rare option this week to rebuff Sacramento's request to void a victory earned by pro-gun advocates. The notoriously left-leaning circuit on Tuesday denied a request by the California Attorney General's office to vacate the decision in Junior Sports vs. Bonta and rehear the case en banc in front of the full circuit.

In a breezy 6-1 vote, the Louisiana Senate Judiciary C Committee on Tuesday gave a big thumbs-up to a bill that would bring permitless concealed carry to the Sportsman's Paradise. The measure, SB 1, simply codifies the right of law-abiding citizens, 18 years and older, to carry concealed handguns lawfully in the state without first having to get a permit. Sponsored by Republican state Sen. Blake Miguez, the bill would make Louisiana the 28th such state to recognize permitless carry as the law of the land.
