BURGLARS who stole an antique gun during a break-in are being sought by police.
The 1860s breech-loading single-barrel rifle was stolen from a house in Barry.
A police spokeswoman described the gun as a possible Schneider conversion and added, "This firearm is in poor condition, however, it is unknown if it is capable of firing live rounds and therefore police are appealing for the firearm to be handed into a local police station."
The burglars struck sometime between 11.45am and 3pm on Tuesday at Merthyr Dyfan Road. |

Police investigating the seizure of weapons in south Belfast, believed to be linked to loyalists, have released a man.
Twelve handguns, a rifle, a detonator and explosives were discovered in the house on Burmah Street off the Ormeau Road, on Friday night.
A number of other items were also seized. Two men and a woman are still being questioned.
Police have said paramilitary involvement is a line of inquiry. |
