The door to the Survival Condo closes slowly, sending a resounding thud through the concrete parking garage. Those inside have surrounded themselves with walls up to 9 feet thick, ready to withstand a nuclear explosion, the eruption of Yellowstones supervolcano or an outbreak of avian flu. Larry Hall, project manager and owner of the Luxury Survival Condo Project, says he feels safer with the doors closed. He says hes sold all 12 luxury condos in the former Atlas missile silo which once housed a nuclear warhead not far from Concordia, about two hours north of Wichita. Hes working on a second silo. A full-floor unit is 1,820 square feet and costs $3 million. A half-floor unit, at 900 square feet, costs $1.5 million.

On the debate of constitutional carry, maybe we should look at the Tennessee Constitution to determine what the limits on government may be. Constitutional carry is a fully protected right in Tennessee. Article I, Section 26, on weapons and the right to bear arms states: That the citizens of this State have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime.

Fair warning: One of these may prove a very difficult thing to own. The only saving tactic or grace will be if you only shoot your MSR/ARs off a bench/rest or bipod: If thats the case, you may only notice that its stout and handsome, just as promised. But if you tote that rifle much, or run and shoot it, you may well be doomed. Unless youve gone to a lot of trouble, your current handguard is between 20 and 30 percent heavier than the Featherand maybe moreand its hard to believe how much lighter and quicker the front of the gun will seem with a Carbon Arms out there. |

Did you know Arkansas had the lowest percentage of yearling bucks harvested than any other state in the country last year? Only 7 percent of bucks harvested were yearlings, or button bucks. That's half the amount of the next closest state (Mississippi) that came in at 14 percent. If that doesn't surprise you, this might: Arkansas ranks third in the top states with the highest percentage bucks killed that are at least 3.5 years old. These rankings were found in the 2017 Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) annual Whitetail Report. |

Is it possible to support the peoples Second Amendment right to bear arms and also support common-sense limits on gun ownership? In the real word, most definitely. But it if youre an Iowa legislator in 2017 and you're supporting new laws to expand access to guns, youre not living in the real world. Youre living in a fantasy world of gun-toting, would-be heroes the good guys with a gun who honestly believe that the proliferation of guns will reduce crime and keep our streets safe for women and orphans. |

You know that months long, at-times overwrought debate over whether guns should be allowed on Kern High School District grounds? The one that resulted in policies allowing certain teachers and other members of the public to carry? It may have all been for naught. A state Assembly bill introduced earlier this month could reverse policies the Kern High School District passed last year allowing concealed carry weapon permit holders to bring firearms into classrooms. |

A Texas Republican lawmaker invoked the shooting of former Rep. Gabby Giffords to explain why he is not hosting in-person town halls. Unfortunately, at this time there are groups from the more violent strains of the leftist ideology, some even being paid, who are preying on public town halls to wreak havoc and threaten public safety. Threats are nothing new to me and I have gotten my share as a felony judge, Rep. Louie Gohmert told constituents in a letter Tuesday.
