A retired Detroit police officer has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, and police believe he is suspected of firing 20-30 rounds Monday morning on the city's west side. The situation started around 3:30 a.m. on Abington near Ray Monnier which is in the area of Southfield and Grand River. Detroit police said the man made some concerning comments to another individual during a phone conversation in which he alerted police.
At 3:28 a.m., 911 callers reported someone shooting an automatic rifle. The callers reported 20-30 rounds being fired.
Officers entered the home to make sure there weren't any victims inside. Instead, inside they found grenades, grenade launchers and stolen batteries from the Detroit Police Dept. |

I really like single-action pistols, and one of my favorites has always been the Browning Hi Power in 9 mm. These days a person can read up on the history of this fine John Browning-designed gun in any number of places, so I won't bore you with all of that. I suspect that this model of pistol, in one of its many configurations, has been in more deadly encounters than any other fighting handgun. Having sung its praises, I have to say that there are several things that have always bothered me about this fine pistol.

Tolerance on campus stops when academics have to be tolerant. Liberal professors dont like guns, so other people shouldnt be allowed to have them. Then, these same college administrators hide behind sovereign immunity when the next disarmed visitor is robbed, raped, or murdered on their campus.
The problem isnt that licensed gun owners are unsafe on campus or that students with carry permits are irresponsible. The gun-free zone on campus is about school administrators who are drunk on power.
That is why a teacher could be armed when she protects our children in the morning, but had to be disarmed when she was on campus later that night.

A bill that would repeal gun-free zones at government meetings in Wyoming passed the state Senate by a 20-10 margin on third reading on Monday. Senators did vote to amend House Bill 137, however, to specify that the bill would only apply to meetings held in places where firearms are not prohibited. That amendment was approved to address concerns about legislative meetings that might be held on the campus of the University of Wyoming or any of the states seven community college campuses. A bill to allow concealed carry permit holders to carry guns onto college campuses was defeated in the Senate last week. |

It happens fast, when you're least expecting it. Face to face with an attacker, would you be prepared? Until Sunday's lesson inside Forward Movement Training Center; KBOI 2's Kelsey McFarland thought she might have been. But that's far from the truth. The training center provides real-live scenario training to provide gun owners with the skill and education they'd need if put in a life or death situation. |

It is now legal to carry electronic guns, such as stun guns and Tasers, after the Annapolis City Council voted to repeal its ban against the weaponry on Monday night. The repeal was passed with a unanimous vote after it was discovered the law could be deemed unconstitutional after a March Supreme Court decision last year. A lawsuit against the city, backed by gun rights activists, catalyzed the decision. |

Saying it will make people safer, state senators voted Monday to allow some gun owners to ignore the signs that now prohibit guns in many public buildings. SB 1243 would repeal laws that allow government agencies to declare their buildings to be gun-free zones by posting a notice and then bring criminal charges against those who insist on bringing in their weapons anyway. Those laws would no longer apply to the more than 306,000 people who have obtained a permit to carry a concealed weapon. |

Whether we commit it to paper or not, most gun enthusiasts maintain a running list of guns wed like to own. Some may be military arms, hunting rifles, raceguns, historical pieces, target pistols, prepper guns or examples of museum-quality artistry. Ive always had an appreciation forand an impulse to purchasecarry guns. As soon as I check one off my list, Im shopping around for another. Some of this is due to acquisitiveness; some to self doubt. Is this really the best gun to carry in such-and-such situation? Well, what if this happensor that? |

Dustin Burns kept his Magic 8 Ball within arms reach during this weekend's Grass Valley Gun Expo held at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. He calls it his magic Department of Justice ball. "I can tell you what the laws are right now," Burns said jokingly while holding the magic ball. "But I have no idea what they'll do in the future." |
