"The likelihood of carrying a concealed gun appears to be linked with conduct disorder (CD) in young men, according to an article in the February issue of The Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals." ...
"... Using weapons is also a symptom of CD, but little is known about how many boys with CD illegally carry concealed guns before the age of 18 and to what extent their gun carrying is associated with violence or crime."
"Rolf Loeber, Ph.D., of the University of Pittsburgh, and colleagues investigated the relationship between carrying a concealed gun and CD in young men, and how gun carrying is associated with crime in adulthood." ...
------- This is quite possibly one of the most absurd press releases to ever be published. Millions of people carry concealed guns every day. Are they all afflicted with "conduct disorders?" The state Department of Public Safety says 84 people are now licensed to carry concealed handguns in New Mexico.

RICHMOND "State lawmakers have introduced a bill tightening regulations on weapons sales at gun shows and are scheduled to debate a proposal that forbids people with concealed-weapons permits from bringing their guns into restaurants that serve alcohol."
"The Senate Finance Committee this week will debate the bill that requires buyers at gun shows to pass a criminal background check. Virginia law now requires background checks only for people who buy guns from licensed dealers and from stores." ...

"After failing to scare business lobbyists into the fight in 2003, and after loosing in the legislative arena just weeks ago, gun ban lobbyists' are now hoping to convince business owners to discriminate against employees and customers who choose to obtain a concealed handgun license (CHL) for self-protection, as witnessed in the Jan. 26 letter to Crain's Cleveland Business magazine from 'Million' Mom March president Lori O'Neill."
"O'Neill states that with passage of HB12, 'Ohio employers have an additional burden to deal with' - 'armed employees and customers entering their work zones.' "The Racine County woman believed abducted along with her two daughters Saturday was found Sunday stuffed in a plastic garbage can - severely beaten but alive - inside a storage room rented by her ex-husband in Wheeling, Ill., authorities said."
"When she was found, just before 1 p.m. Sunday, the partially clothed woman uttered, 'I'm Teri from Racine,' Racine County Sheriff Robert Carlson said. Jendusa-Nicolai was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill., where she was in serious but stable condition Sunday night."
"Larsen was supposed to appear in a Racine County court today for a hearing about a restraining order that Jendusa-Nicolai had filed against him Jan. 22." |

"POLICE will target gun owners in a series of surprise weapon safety audits across the Oxley Local Area Command and the State in coming weeks."
"The audit is aimed at preventing theft and injury caused by the unsafe storage of firearms, such as under a bed or in a cupboard, an unfortunate circumstance of improper firearm storage that police often have to deal with."
"Police have detailed files of thousands of licence holders and have already begun random visits in the Tamworth area. The audit will extend the throughout the command area."
"Inspector Rogers said it was a condition of the licence for gun owners to allow police onto their premises for safety inspections."
------- Isn't it nice that the government is taking such good care of its subjects for the common good? |

"There are more ways to defend your country than donning fatigues and being willing to die to protect the oil interests of the rich and powerful. Armed with determination, your computer, a fax/copier, a phone, and the Internet, you can be a defender of liberty, and bequeath to your children and all your descendants the same freedom you were privileged to inherit. Read the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence to your children for their bedtime stories." |

This is from the socialist gun banners at the Brady Bunch, so, as with anything from them, take it with a grain of salt:
. . . "Tennille Jefferson's suit, stemming from the shooting death of her seven-year-old son Nafis in South Philadelphia on April 19, 1999, alleges that Sauers Trading of Williamsport, Pennsylvania repeatedly sold guns to a drug-addicted gun trafficker that quickly made their way to the streets of Philadelphia. The January 29 ruling by Philadelphia Judge Nitza Quiones Alejandro rejected Sauers' motion for summary judgment and clears the case for trial on April 5th." ... |

With the passage of a handgun carry licensing law in Ohio on Jan. 8, that state joins 36 others with standardized "carry" laws on the books.
"New York in one of those 13 states that does not have a general carry-law provision," said State Sen. Dale M. Volker, R-Depew. Volker noted that standardized, statewide licensing laws do not exist because of the Sullivan Law amended in the 1940s in New York State. That law imposed restrictions on carrying handguns and extended the right of pistol permit issuance to county officials, rather than impose a general law with statewide standards.
Thomas H. King, president of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, says varying standards of handgun registration cause "law-abiding citizens to take their chances with the law (when possessing handguns)."

"The high incidence of violent crimes is a real nightmare for Nairobi residents. Carjackers, armed robbers and muggers lurk everywhere - on the roads, in the city centre and in the residential estates. The other day, a friend was accosted right at his gate, forced into the boot of his car and driven off into the night. He was robbed of cash, his wedding ring and other belongings and dumped by the roadside. The car was later found but, of course, without his tool kit and jack and some of his treasured music cassettes. Luckily enough, he didn't resist and was not hurt."
------- And the government wants its citizens disarmed in the face of these thugs, because apparently the "wrong hands" are the hands of anyone but the state and its agents. |

Here is what has been happening where self-defense on the streets is banned:
... "In one case, an 18-year-old college student returning to her apartment building at about 4:30 a.m. was followed by the suspect, who told her he had a gun and demanded money, police said."
"The suspect walked with the woman to a nearby bodega, forced her to withdraw $100 from an automated teller machine and then took her back to her building, where he sodomized her in the lobby, police said." ... ------
The suspect is in custody. He's been arrested 26 times in the past. He is suspected of many recent sexual assaults. And in NYC, potential unarmed victims are everywhere in wide variety -- because carrying a firearm for self-defense is a felony. |
