"Murfreesboro police officers were astonished when their shift's commander, Lt. Alvin Randolph, came into morning roll call on Jan. 22 and announced that, after some departmental changes, non-Christian officers and those with more than 25 years on the force should look for other jobs."

"It was the beginning of a morning-long disturbance in which, officers say, Randolph started to draw his gun on another officer and an emergency radio call summoned all available officers back to the police station. Randolph was placed on paid administrative leave later that morning."

As the Ohio General Assembly looks ahead to committee consideration of HB12 (and SB24?), we believe serious consideration should be given to removing language involving the creation of "victim zones" in Ohio, where persons are prohibited from exercising their constitutional right to self-defense.

"An Apopka police officer has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. Thirty-nine-year-old Apopka police sergeant Edwin Coffey, who has been with the Apopka police for ten years."

"The investigator's report says the 13-year-old girl told them that Sgt. Coffey had been sexually assaulting her several times a week over the last year or so, since she turned 12 years old."

WOODBURY -- Sheriff Gilbert Miller III said his office is offering refrigerator magnets that can be kept in plain view and remind families about the importance of gun safety.

The magnets, which were provided by the organization Common Sense about Kids and Guns and funded by the Gloucester County Freeholder Board, will be offered at no charge to residents who contact Miller at 384-4630.

Columbine would not have been as disastrous if even a small portion of the teachers or administrators had weapons to defend themselves and the students in their care. There is no defense like fear to keep cowards from committing murder of the defenseless. If the perpetrators knew that someone could stop them it would have stopped them from starting. Leave the gun laws alone!
