A Michigan gun rights group says the states top Republican is giving into the demands of Democrats who are calling for stricter gun laws.
Mike Shirkey bowing down to the demands of anti-gun Senate Democrats while letting pro-gun bills languish in his chamber is completely uncalled for and an affront to law-abiding Michiganders, said Brenden Boudreau, Executive Director of Great Lakes Gun Rights, the Michigan nonprofit and affiliate of the National Assoc. for Gun Rights.
Republican Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, R-Clarklake, promised Senate Democrats in 2019 that red flag gun bills would get a committee hearing. Almost three years later, Shirkey and Democrats are saying a committee hearing on the bills will happen soon.

Mike Parson signed HB 85, called the Second Amendment Preservation Act, into law last June. The law prohibits state and local cooperation with federal officials to enforce any laws, rules, orders or actions violating the Second Amendment rights of Missourians. It also creates civil liability and monetary damages of $50,000 per occurrence when the law is violated. |

Wayne LaPierre has devoted a long time to the defense of the Second Amendment. While loyal Ammoland readers can disagree with his tactics, one cannot dispute the fact that the Second Amendment is on much firmer footing than it was 35 years ago. That said, while LaPierres overall track record is good, some mistakes warrant him stepping down. |
