The sound of crushed gravel -- the crunch and collapse of rock -- is the lyric of tyranny. Yet, the very same sound, when delivered by American tanks and paraded by U.S. soldiers, is liberty's bell; an otherwise frightening reminder -- trumpeted across history's transom, from Brussels to Belgrade and Paris to Prague. |

The U.S. defense industrial basewhich our military services depend on to get their weapons and equipmentis composed of hundreds of industrial sectors. Some industries are healthier and wealthier than others, but all are equally important to the national security of the United States. |

"Parents will be outraged to learn the General Assembly would consider making it public policy to have concealed weapons in places where we believe school children are the safest..."
Bad guys can't ever be trusted and the cops aren't doing so well in Philly schools at the moment. Have Moms or Dads screwed up recently.
As to "educators' being stunned, considering the sorry state of education in SC, "Well, duuuh!" |

Finally something "positive" has come out of the Enron scandal, to wit: campaign finance reform.
With still more regulation of "campaign finance," political veterans will have fewer "challenges from outsiders who lack the connections and the background to master the increasingly complicated regulations."
KABA NOTE: Inotherwords, dissenters of current political propaganda will be silenced. |

"O'Reilly, a veteran of Fox and an Emmy winner himself, reveals the skullduggery that goes on under the anchor desk and on the other side of the camera: correspondents 'bigfooting' others' stories, young climbers doing anything to secure the anchor seat and ratings outfits fixing the game to suit themselves. Once you've read this, you will understand the part of the news that's not fit to print." |

"If we mean to fully protect our security we should immediately seek federal legislation to establish standards for the implantation of microchips uniquely identifying each and every individual residing in this country, linked to central databases that could protect all Americans against terrorism. In fact, similar technology has been used in veterinary medicine for years to facilitate the return of lost dogs and cats to their owners." - Charlotte A. Englewood Water District Administrator Richard Rollo sees one of his primary responsibilities as the delivery of safe drinking water to the upward of 30,000 customers the district services. It was precisely this commitment that led Rollo to seriously question the wisdom of renewing a lease with the Englewood Pistoleer's Gun Club.
"I have to look at myself in the mirror in the morning," said Rollo. "As a professional to know that lead is being deposited to drinking wells bothers me. |

The City Council voted 4-3 this week to ban the use of BB guns or paintball guns by minors without parental supervision. The vote reflects a change that communities across the USA have made as they have grown. |

About 300 soldiers, including U.S. Marines in an "anti-terrorism" unit formed since the Sept.11 attacks, will be patrolling North Little Rock in the next two weeks.
The unusual action, a series of urban warfare and couterterrorism "experiments" by the Marine Crops Warfighting Labortary, will take place between Sunday and Feb. 22.
North Little Rock Mayor Patrick Hays said, "We're just proud our city is going to have the opportunity to help out in a very active way and perhaps in time will benefit our country." |

A sheriff's deputy fired numerous rubberized bullets at Brian M. Lamb, striking him, before [Lamb pointed his gun at the deputy and] was fatally shot by another officer.
[A rubber bullet is] "a projectile designed to cause pain and discomfort and to stop the person..." Bucher said. "They are usually very effective." Bucher said that judging by the end result, the rubberized bullets...didn't work as well in this case. |

Vermont-Style CCW Permits* HB1242 by State Rep. Dave Schultheis
*RMGO Note: HB1242 is not a Vermont Law bill, as it still requires a permit... HB1242 is considered a Vermont-STYLE permit bill: it puts the burden of proof on government to prove why a citizen is not allowed to possess a firearm (and therefore not allowed to carry). If passed, HB1242 would be the second best CCW law in the nation. |

"Men who have been convicted of domestic-violence crimes have no business possessing guns. Iowa law should recognize that fact. It doesn't. Although it is illegal under federal law for abusers to own, buy or otherwise acquire firearms, state enforcement is erratic. So the protections domestic-violence victims seek from the courts become worthless. The paper on which a protective order is written is easily pierced by a bullet." - SHIRLEY RAGSDALE |

"VIRGINIA LAW allows saloons and restaurants to welcome loaded customers with open arms, but not if the arms are concealed. Gun-toters may enter only with holstered weapons in full view. Small comfort, but it could get worse for those who find the presence of guns disconcerting and dangerous. Some state lawmakers are looking to close the gun loophole -- the wrong way." |

This is much more than a First Amendment case Womack wrote. "In reality it is a matter of corrupt officials going to extreme lengths to try and silence some critics, but it seems to have gotten bigger and bigger than they ever expected. I assume they figured that the three of us would just take our whipping and go whimpering home, but they underestimated the resolve of three military veterans, willing to stand up for what is right." |
