A 21-year-old Dearborn Heights man accused by the FBI of being an ISIS supporter and planning an attack on an area church is due in federal court on Monday for a detention hearing.
The criminal complaint doesnt identify which church Abu-Rayyan was allegedly planning on targeting.
"It's easy, and a lot of people go there. Plus, people are not allowed to carry guns in church. Plus, it would make the news. Everybody would've heard. Honestly, I regret not doing it. If I can't do jihad in the Middle East, I would do my jihad over here." |

A 22-year-old man was shot to death in Mount Vernon Sunday night, and police say the shooter has a credible self-defense argument.
Just before 11 p.m., officers were called to 300 E. Section St. after a report of shots fired, according to Lt. Chris Cammock with Mount Vernon police. A homeowner in the area was outside testing a wireless connection when he saw a car slowly drive by with 3 people inside. |

The United States Preventive Services Task Force recently recommended mandatory depression screening for all Americans. The task force wants to force health insurance companies to pay for the screening. Basic economics, as well as the Obamacare disaster, should have shown this task force that government health insurance mandates harm Americans.

Phillip Evans, a member of GeorgiaCarry.org, was escorted off the grounds of the property in October 2014 for openly carrying a firearm in a holster on his waistband. |

The House of Delegates passed a bill Monday that largely does away with the requirements of the states conceal carry gun law despite Gov. Earl Ray Tomblins promised veto.
The bill (HB 4145), approved 68-31, eliminates the permitting process currently operated through county sheriffs departments. The permit process, which includes training and a background check, will still be a requirement for those 18-21, according to the bill. |

Dont talk to me about passing a single new gun law if you arent fighting to make sure criminals are being prosecuted to the fullest extent of our existing laws. Criminals who commit crimes involving firearms are routinely allowed to cut plea deals on every level, even after people are killed with stolen or straw-purchased weapons. |

On Wednesday, the Florida House of Representatives approved legislation that will allow Floridians with a concealed weapons license to carry their guns out in the open and in public places.
"We have no constitutional basis to infringe upon the rights of a Floridian to openly carry," said Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Fort Walton Beach Republican who sponsored the open carry measure, which was approved 80-38. "We are for more rights for everyone. We are for more freedom for everyone. We are for more liberty for everyone." |

For over 50 years, Wisconsin law has prohibited the possession and sale of switchblade knives, but a new law signed by Gov. Scott Walker this weekend now makes them legal.
Supporters like Walker said it's a tool to help first responders and other law enforcement personnel at scenes of accidents, but for police, the law means another factor they must be aware of when out in the field.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands? Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836 |
