The National Rifle Association has taken aim at a proposed change to Connecticut�s gun laws that would make it easier for law enforcement officials to ask to see the permits of those carrying guns in public.
To stop the legislation, the NRA�s powerful lobbying arm on Monday asked supporters to flood members of the General Assembly�s Public Safety and Security Committee with comments opposing the change and to show up at the panel�s hearing on the legislation Thursday. |

Tougher state environmental regulations are prompting the East Bay Regional Park District to vote Tuesday on whether to close the Chabot Gun Club, amid concerns that taxpayers will be stuck having to pay millions of dollars to clean up pollution from spent bullets.
A 2015 state law requires the club to install filters on its storm drains and to clean lead contamination caused by bullets fired into hills at Anthony Chabot Regional Park near San Leandro and Castro Valley. |

A new law is possibly going to lead to confiscated weapons going right back out on the streets.
Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland confirmed today that from now on, when the city has gun buyback programs, those weapons must be sold if they are in working order.
The legislation was first introduced last year and is now state law.

The state House passed a bill Monday to allow individuals with enhanced concealed-carry permits to bring guns into courthouses.
Passage comes a week after a man was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for shooting to death another man outside the Madison County Courthouse. |

Protesters gathered on the University of New Mexico campus on Monday, angry over a decision to ban stun guns on campus.
�Change has to come to the University of New Mexico,� said one protester. Students are protesting a decision by student government to keep the ban in place, despite a petition asking them to reconsider.

Investigators with the Northglenn Police Department are looking for a group of men who opened fire at a gas station.
Police say the victims, two men and a woman, got in an argument with a group of five men in their late teens or 20s at the Shell station at 2265 E. 120th Avenue. That�s when two of the suspects pulled out guns and started shooting, hitting the two men. One of the victims was treated at the scene, the other at a hospital. The victims say they didn�t know the men who shot them. |

Two people have been arrested in connection to a home burglary in Northwest Fresno on Friday. The Fresno Police Department said Fernando Arciga and Ashley Serna were arrested on Saturday for allegedly burglarizing the home and taking nearly 15 guns and ammunition. More suspects are still wanted.
Surveillance video shared exclusively with us shows the brazen burglary in broad daylight in Northwest Fresno. Police said the guns have not yet been recovered.

Shots Fired, a gun store on Washington Street in Covington, was burglarized early Monday morning.
Approximately 20-30 guns were taken from the store, which was �hit hard� according to Covington Police Capt. Ken Malcom.

Larry Hyatt, owner of one of the country�s busiest gun stores, has more than a quarter-million dollars worth of guns sitting in his store, just waiting for their prospective owners � and there�s a good reason.
Hyatt�s store is located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina�s most populous county. The large number of firearms in �purchase queue� stems from a newly created firearms law passed by the North Carolina legislature in December requiring everyone who applies for a gun permit in North Carolina to undergo a mental health background check.

Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says he is glad a bill in the state legislature that would have allowed people to carry concealed firearms into government meetings won�t become law.
House Bill 86 passed the state house on a 50-10 vote. But it died in the Senate without a vote because it didn�t meet the deadline for being reported out of committee on Friday.

In one of her last events before the Super Tuesday primary, Hillary Clinton accused the gun lobby of wanting terrorists to have Second Amendment rights � and did so in the home of the National Rifle Association.
�Here�s the worst example of the overreach by the gun lobby: There�s something called the no-fly list. You get on it, you have some connection to terrorists or terrorism,� Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, told an audience of about 200 at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, Monday.

I am not an expert on guns. I have never owned one, and my husband and I never kept one in the house. So when it comes to gun safety and reducing the number of mass shootings that take place in our country, I would be the last person to suggest there are easy answers. Deer season may be over in Maryland, but lobbying season is well underway in Annapolis. Hunters and gun enthusiasts have held signs this week around the State House, protesting two bills that were debated in the House of Delegates Judiciary Committee Friday. David Joe Whitt, 48, came to the home in the Eagle�s Nest area along Crawley Creek outside Chapmanville Sunday evening apparently looking for a fight according to Logan County Chief Deputy Mike Mayes.

Church goers in Shreveport, LA have under gone an 8 hour Concealed Carry Class to protect their flock and in the hopes of stopping violence in their place of worship.
Sunday school teacher, David Hale says "My hope personally is to make a safer place for our families to worship".
This is an 8 hour class required annaully by law. The church goers that are to be that line of defense have to gain permission from the church before taking a gun to church and under go the training class.

A bill introduced by Rep. Mike Pitts, R-Laurens, that would prohibit South Carolina from enforcing any federal laws that limit Second Amendment rights is scheduled for debate in the House this week.
The proposal also would not allow South Carolina to spend state money to enforce those laws or accept federal funds related to any new regulations.
