In the wake of a mass killing in Alabama, gun control fanatics believe that the kind of firearms used by the killer who graciously took his own life ought to be banned. Meanwhile, as the clock ticked down toward the execution of convicted killer Cal Coburn Brown for the brutal 1991 torture-slaying of Holly Washa, some people are whining that the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment and its not right to execute monsters like Brown.

Authorities in Bermuda are asking residents to remain calm if they see police officers carrying weapons.
Police Commissioner George Jackson says he is giving guns to a secret number of officers because of an increase in violence. Not all officers will be armed.
Deputy Commissioner Michael DeSilva says he supports the idea. He says Bermuda is "not the Wild West and we can't start arming ourselves to the teeth."
But former Police Commissioner Jonathan Smith says having unarmed officers pursue armed criminals is like playing roulette.
Only one person was wounded by a gun last year in this wealthy British territory of 64,000 residents. Four people were wounded and two killed in 2007.
Police received the guns this week.

Illinois gun owners are calling on lawmakers to let them carry concealed weapons, but those calls will likely go unanswered.
"I think we have the right to defend ourselves," said David Nelson of McCleansboro. He was one hundreds of citizens who gathered outside the Statehouse for Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day Wednesday.
The demonstrators wanted lawmakers, especially the ones from Chicago, to know they want their gun rights protected.
"You want to make a law for Chicago, make a law for Chicago, but the rest of the state is not Chicago," said Mark Wilson of Carbondale.
There are several gun laws being considered by the General Assembly, but the crowd took aim at the conceal carry law... |

Some of the strictest gun control laws are in Germany There's a move to further attempt to crack down on private gun ownership there.. Other countries are tightening laws to prevent people from killing each other, but there aren't enough yet to stop the mad primal urge to kill.. Just see how easy gun ownership is..
a. Get a carry license. You just have to prove that you are in more danger than other average Germans and that a gun is needed for self defense. 20,000 carry permits exist in all Germany. Security services have most of these Waffenschein grey cards...
b. You might try to become a collector and get a Sammlerkarte red card...
c. You may want to try hunting. It takes about a year and costs several thousand Euros.. |

Shreveport Police Chief Henry Whitehorn ordered the officer to be placed on leave after learning that Caddo Parish Sheriffs have a warrant for his arrest.
Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office contacted the Shreveport Police Department this afternoon and notified them that they had a warrant for the arrest of Officer Justin White.
The warrant is for felony theft and has a bond of $5,000.00.
Supervisors with the Shreveport Police Department talked with White and turned him over to the Caddo Sheriff's Office. He has been relieved of all duties pending an internal investigation. |

If strict gun control worked, then the District -- which had long been home to the nation's most restrictive gun control measures -- would be the safest place in the country...my amendment will not turn the District into the Wild West of the East Coast. It would apply federal gun control law to the city. It would prohibit anyone from carrying any firearm in public without a permit; would require residents to submit to an FBI background check when they purchase a firearm; and would apply federal restrictions regarding, among other things, mental health issues, felony convictions, immigration status and age... Those who seek to mischaracterize this amendment are only spreading fear. |

Westchester County will fund $3 million for the cities of Yonkers and Mount Vernon to install high-tech gun violence detection systems. Both cities have been plagued by gun violence in recent months. The censor network will be able to detect gunfire and pinpoint its precise location for police so they can respond within seconds after gunshots have been fired... This is a way the county can do something to relieve the pressure of cost on these two communities and they can operate it and make the communities safer, and in that case, the whole county safer.... Mayor Clinton Young said the system will allow the police department to zero in on gunfire almost immediately, as well as lessen the threat to others in the neighborhood. |

Whether the liberals are passing a stimulus bill that creates a new government agency to compile an electronic database of the medical records of every American, stealing a working mans money and giving it to an illegal alien, or attempting to prevent a person from owning a gun to defend themselves, it is obvious that they are delusional control freaks.
Delusional liberals want to punish good, honest Americans. However, with their simpleton mindset they think that criminals will be controlled by taking guns away from law abiding citizens. |

Carlton D. Brye, serving 22 years for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, appealed on grounds including last year's Supreme Court ruling in District of Columbia vs. Heller, which overturned a ban on gun possession in the nation's capital. Brye, arrested in Clearwater, Fla., in 2007, said the ruling upheld Second Amendment rights of all Americans to "use arms for self-defense." |

Saying that gun sales are brisk is an understatement. The ATF, at one time, announced it was was running out of its 4473 forms. I just ordered this, and it's an 8-10 week back order. And I had to order it from a west coast shop in order to get it that soon. Make sure you see this article from LRC last week by R. Brent Mattis. |

There are present in America today a very large number of citizens who believe protection of themselves and their loved ones from violent physical attack, robbery, rape and general mayhem is the sole responsibility of others. Most of these ignorant folks believe that employees of the state should be responsible for protection of the individual in our society. This view is elitist and based on false assumptions. |

If one lawmaker has his way and a bill making its way through the Maryland House of Delegates passes, victims of domestic abuse will be armed. Welcome relief for women like pop-star Rihanna, especially if attacked again. This time they'll be armed to fight back. (And their attackers might think twice before unloading. House Bill 359, being debated by Anne Arundel County Delegate Tony McConkey, would consider domestic violence victims who have received final protective orders against their abusers as having good and substantial reason to wear, carry and transport a handgun, according to the AP. |

President Barack Obama is considering deploying troops along the US-Mexico border to stop any spillover of the carnage from the drug wars in its southern neighbor, US newspapers said Thursday.
"We've got a very big border with Mexico," Obama said. "I'm not interested in militarizing the border."
And while he is leaving the door open to deploying troops, "I don't have a particular tipping point in mind," the president said.
Obama said in his newspaper interview that within "a few months" he would offer a comprehensive policy to curtail US demand for drugs and curb the southbound flow of cash and guns that give the cartels "extraordinary power."
