The .50 Action Express cartridge is, without a doubt, one of the worlds most powerful pistol cartridges. It features a .500-inch bullet diameter (33mm) in a 1.285-inch straight-walled case that has a rebated rim. The overall length of the standard .50 AE round measures 1.610 inches, and the ammo is powered with a large pistol primer. According to the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute (SAAMI), the maximum pressure of .50 AE ammo should not exceed 36,000 pounds per square inch (psi). |

If you quickly glance at 38 Special and 357 Magnum ammo, you might not notice any differences and think they were the same round. Although they are almost identical in their case dimensions, the 38 Special and 357 Magnum are extremely different. |

A post-legislative session editorial in the Vancouver Columbianserving the growing southwest Washington regionillustrates what gun owners and grassroots activists see as indicative of a bias by First Amendment professionals against Second Amendment advocates.
The headline and first sentence of the editorial gives the perceived bias away by declaring More measures needed to end gun violence and repeating the phrase in the first line. |

A newspaper in DeKalb County, Ga., is reporting that the county police department is planning a March 19 safety fair in response to a Feb. 27 incident in which a youngster apparently found a gun in his mothers car and accidentally shot himself.
Its the kind of tragedy typically exploited by the gun prohibition lobby, but in this case, the newspaper chose to report genuine gun safety by quoting from the National Shooting Sports Foundations Project ChildSafe website. |

Americas gun debate has been frozen for decades. We keep having the same arguments with the same talking points over and over again and Americans continue to die from gun violence at hugely disproportionate numbers relative to the rest of the world. Theres a massive cultural divide here that is very hard to reconcile. If you live in a big city or a major metropolitan area, you very likely think about guns differently than someone who grew up in a rural area. |

Unlike what you hear at most marksmanship competitions, where the crack, boom and rattle of gunfire sounds pretty much the same, the reports of the guns fired at the annual Victorian Riflemen matches in Springtown, Penn., are anything but consistent. While the match focuses on firing Martini-Henry rifles in .577-450 caliber and Snider rifles in .577 caliber, the participants (about 40 for this event) bring a fascinating array of mostly original firearms of the latter half of the 19th century, with most of the guns having a connection to the Tommy Atkins of Queen Victorias empire.

Many of todays tactical shotguns come with more rails than Washington, DCs LEnfant Plaza station, but that doesnt mean you must burden them with needless accessories that will just weigh you down. Over the years, however, Ive identified several accoutrements that are more than mere shotgun fashion. The following accessories can actually lend advantage when the moon is rising and the neer-do-wells come knocking.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people. Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788. |
