The Club For Growth has been running ads explaining Trump-onomics. This has helped lower Donald Trumps numbers from the high to the low 30s in the states where the ads have run. The club has been able to do this because, over decades, millions of Americans have learned that it is a reliable guide to what makes for economic prosperity and its opposite. But the club has been the exception.

Eagle Creek Pistol Range, located at 5820 N. High School Road in Indianapolis (approximately mile east of Eagle Creek Park), serves as the firearms training facility for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department from Monday through Friday. But the facility is actually owned by Indy Parks and for this reason, members of the public have had access to the pistol range on weekends since it was built in the 1980s. The outdoor range features 20 lanes where gun owners can shoot at distances up to 60 yards. The range allows shotguns and pistols and has been a favorite place to shoot for central Indiana residents for many years.

In Washington state, nearly 80 percent of gun deaths are suicides. After losing her husband to suicide in 2011, Jenn Stuber started wondering how that statistic could be changed. Her husband, a 40-year-old attorney battling anxiety and depression, had shot himself with a gun he'd recently purchased. Stuber, a University of Washington social work professor, made a cold call to the National Rifle Association. It was the beginning of an alliance between suicide prevention groups and gun advocates. They worked together to craft Washington's Suicide Awareness and Prevention Education for Safer Homes Act. |

Gun control, according to the bumper stickers and GOP presidential candidates, is using both hands. Tell that to the nine-year-old girl who killed Charles Vacca in August 2014. Vacca, a gun range instructor in Arizona, was helping the girl fire an Uzi at the Arizona Last Stop Gun Range; after a few rounds, he let the girl hold the gun herself. But even with two hands, the recoil on the fully automatic weapon was too much for her, and the first shots jerked her hands upward, raising the barrel towards Vacca, who was shot once in the head.

California sheriffs announced Monday that they are opposing Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsoms gun-control measure aimed for the fall ballot, arguing it would not prevent criminals from obtaining guns and ammunition via the black market or theft.
Instead, the proposal would place additional restrictions on law-abiding people who want to buy ammunition for recreational use, retain guns and magazines that are currently legal or pass down historical or family heirlooms, the California State Sheriffs Association wrote in a letter to Newsoms campaign.

A bill that would create a statewide procedure to seize guns of domestic abusers is advancing through the New Jersey Legislature. The measure requires a violent abuser to turn in firearms when a restraining order is in effect. And police responding to violent incidents would be able to seize guns from homes. Scott Bach, executive director of the New Jersey Association of Rifle and Pistol Clubs, said violent abuse of a domestic partner is inexcusable, but that the bill isn't tough enough.
