..."Revealing of the mindset that fuels this line of non-reasoning is a popular Chicago feminist blogger who created a firestorm among online activists with her post: 'Time to ban handguns, guys.' Responding to a critics argument that defenseless people are powerless to do anything but await their execution, she unintentionally did us a service, telling us everything we need to know about the citizen disarmament 'solution.'"
"'Cowering under a desk,' she replied, 'is indeed the only recourse for people facing life threatening situations in a school. Unless you are suggesting we pack every lunch box with a handgun.'"
"Ive never seen the ultimate stupid argument of the gun-grabbers more eloquently put." |

"At the end of an emotionally brutal week in western Washington during which two youngsters died in remarkably similar firearms accidents in Snohomish and Pierce counties, one thing has emerged from the ensuing debate that has, perhaps, never been more clear."
"There are would be 'gun safety advocates' and then there are gun safety experts. The first group appears far more interested in using the shooting tragedies to push a political agenda, while the other group appears satisfied with existing laws and promoting genuine education." ... |

... "Dear progressive government, take from them the Second Amendment. Its scary. You dont need guns. We have tough anti-gun laws to protect everybody. We have gun-free zones, too, but criminals dont care so much about gun-free zones, or gun laws, but we will keep making more anti-gun laws so we dont have to address the real issue of criminals. When your life is in danger, call 911 because help is minutes away when seconds count, but at least they will know where to pick up the remains after the crime." ... |

... "Not only has Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., crossed party lines to vote for confirmation of both Sotomayor and Kagan for the Supreme Court and in support of numerous anti-gun nominees and appointees to the federal bench and cabinet positions, he has also repeatedly voted against gun owners on pure, stand-alone gun legislation. He was one of only two Republicans to vote against the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act in 2009, and he has announced his opposition to a similar bill currently awaiting action in the Senate." .. |

"Wed heard Arsenal was coming out with a new pistol a while back thanks to some of our Russian readers, but we didnt really have a good idea about what it was or what made it special. And we knew Arsenals conjoined 2011 side-by-side thingy wasnt it. Check out this link to a Russian news program showing it off earlier this year thats all we had to go on. But now Arsenal has put up a website with all the juicy details in English so we can happily report what makes their first gun, the Strike One (will there be a Strike Two and God forbid a Strike Three?) special. And while it may look an awful lot like just another standard polymer frame pistol, this gun has one big advantage . . ." ... |

"Most, if not all, civilians who have a concealed carry permit carry folding knives. Some pack a blade just for convenience and others as a back-up to their pistol. And while plenty people who carry a knife train extensively with their carry pistol very few have ever trained with their folding knife. The truth is that most people don't choose a folding knife looking for something that could really do some damage in a pinch, they just buy something thats 'good enough.'" ... |

"When it comes to their guns, shooters are a notoriously fickle lot. Though often expressing near universal approval for all things firearms, gun owners are quick to shun a particular weapon for the smallest and most subjective of reasons ... All in all, I think this fickleness is a good thing and keeps the firearms market on its toes, but its also a quality I feel a lot of shooters dont bring with them when it comes time to buy basic gun accessories."
"Even on todays overblown market, there are still a lot of good accessories coming out, but far too often, gun folk are more than willing to burn money on shiny gadgets ... while paying little to no attention to those basic accessories almost every shooter imaginable should own." ... |

"New Yorkers Against Gun Violence[sic] are all in favor of microstamping because this time their horrendously expensive and completely useless gun tracking database will work. Having finally been hit with a big enough clue-stick ($45+ million and nearly a quarter million man hours for precisely 2 hits, neither of which was useful) they are admitting that CoBIS was a colossal waste of resources not as effective as they had hoped. "Thirty thousand gun deaths occur in the U.S. every year, approximately 12,000 of which are homicides."
"There are those who still believe that the right to bear arms should not be limited in any way. If we could think of 30,000 as the manifestation of a public-health threat that could be reduced or prevented by some inoculation, we would surely demand that this be done." ... -------
Submitter's Note: And if that "inoculation" cost 60,000 lives would you still be demanding it? Because twice as many lives are saved annually in DGUs than are last to firearm related homicides or accidents. |

"Samuel Smith was hanging out about 9:00 last night, sitting on his friends stoop in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania when two suspicious passers by . . . passed by. Spidey senses a-tingling, Sam decided it was time to, you know, load his gun. 'As the two men walked by, Smith had an uneasy feeling and loaded a magazine into his gun and reholstered the weapon.' Sam must be living right because he got what most crime victims don't a little advance warning. Give him props for situational awareness, though. But he may want to consider running out and buying a lottery ticket soon because despite an even bigger mistake he was about to make than walking around with an empty gun, fortune seems to be smiling on him these days . . ." ... |

"The stabbing of four people in a downtown Columbus office building, and subsequent shooting of the knife-wielding assailant by police, has made national news headlines over the past two days. Glaringly absent from news coverage, however, is any mention of the fact that the building is a 'no-guns' zone, thanks to Ohio laws which prohibit concealed carry in government buildings (the building houses offices for the state attorney general) and college campuses (the building houses Miami-Jacobs Career College)." ... |

"California Congressman Darrell Issa has evidently gotten his 'second wind' and in a Thursday evening interview with CNNs Anderson Cooper regarding Operation Fast and Furious and a similar project in Texas, accused the Justice Department and [ATF] of lying to Congress."
"The interview came at the end of a lengthy report on illegal gun walking that appears to have been permitted under the Obama administration in 2009 and 2010 in more places than just Arizona. It may be seen here, and this is what Issa told Cooper:""'Weve been lied to by the Department of Justice; we've been lied to by some of the ATF.'" ... |

"Illinois House Bill 5745, sponsored by Rep. Brandon W. Phelps, would give the right to conceal carry to the only state without it."
"The bill, which was first filed and read on Feb. 16, was passed by the Agriculture & Conservation Committee on Feb. 27 and then placed on the calendar on March 7. The hotly contested bill, already lacking support from Chicago politicians who believe the state should address crime prevention issues first, is also drawing negative attention do to a clause that would allow universities to choose whether or not to allow concealed carry on campus but would also hold the institutions liable if a student is harmed or killed because they could not carry on campus." ... |
