"...it's been far too easy for the vast majority of Americans to pay little or no attention to George W. Bush's march to war, because most folks' pride and joy aren't prime candidates for body bags. And few average citizens have ongoing personal contact with a uniformed defender from the 1 million-plus regular warriors who make up our All-Volunteer Force. To them, our warriors are just uniforms they occasionally see floating around at airports or as background color in TV war dispatches."

"Amy Fisher was committing a disgusting act of selfish indulgence when she got sexually involved with another woman's husband. But I'm not here to critique her lack of morals in that regard. Obviously, the overgrown, self-serving oaf, who found nothing wrong with banging a teenager behind his wife's unknowing back, must take 50 percent of the blame for the situation."

"But when the 'Long Island Lolita' picked up that gun and headed over to the unsuspecting wife's house that day, no one but Amy Fisher can be blamed for what happened next."

"No one."

"However, we cannot count on the President to veto a renewal bill. At best, we should consider him a passive asset to our efforts, because it is highly unlikely that he would twist arms in Congress to get a renewal to his desk. While this may not be a perfect situation (a promised veto would be ideal!), things would be much worse if Al Gore had won the election."

"While the leftist gun control zealots are breaking open the champagne bottles and welcoming Ms. Fisher into their fold, it is terribly obvious that Ms. Fisher is incorrectly attributing the cause of violence committed by troubled adolescents to the "accessibility of handguns." Rather than pointing the finger at firearms, she should be pointing the finger at the morally bankrupt government school system that has fostered this violent mindset in the first place."

"In Bowling, Moore continues to press the envelope of the pseudo-documentary. He surpasses The Blair Witch Project, but still falls short of the inspired genius of History of the World Part One."

"Bowling fails the first requirement of a documentary: some foundation in the truth. In his earlier works, Moore shifted dates and sequences for the sake of drama, but at least the events depicted did occur. Most of the time. Bowling breaks that last link with factual reality. It makes its points by deceiving and by misleading the viewer. Statements are made which are false. The viewer is invited to draw inferences which the producer must have known were wrong..."

"Pacifists, as well as many other liberals, support strict gun-control laws. If use of force by nations is wrong, then use of force by private citizens even in self-defense is even more wrong."

"First, we have the obvious hypocrites. We have the politicians and media stars who dont trust 'ordinary' citizens to own a gun, but who themselves have permits to carry guns, or who can afford armed bodyguards."

"Then we have the liberals who live in gated communities or upscale suburbs, and who work in elite office buildings. They feel no need for self-defense, so they cant empathize with those who live or work in high-crime areas especially the poor and minorities. They feel no need for guns, so they cant understand those who do."
