"There seems little doubt that the next big gun rights battle will be on the global front, thanks to efforts by anti-gun governments to not only disarm their citizens, but also lobby at the United Nations to compel the U.S. government to ratchet down on our gun rights."
"Well, good luck with that! ... All of these guns that the gun control fanatics don't want us to have; we've already got them."

"Illinois gun owners who knew Ralph W. Conner are remembering him as a friend this week after he unexpectedly passed away on Saturday at the age of 61. According to the Heartland Institute's press release, Mr. Conner's funeral will be held in Maywood, IL on Saturday, March 20. See Heartland.org for more information."
"Conner, former President of Maywood, Local Legislation Manager for the Heartland Institute and head of the revitalized Chicago chapter of the Congress Of Racial Equality(CORE), was a busy man who seemed to buzz from project to appearance to essay to interview at an impossible pace, but he was focused and eloquent advocate for the right to keep and bear arms." ... |

"The other day, Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat did a marvelously sarcastic column on how Seattle might be selecting its next police chief." "Headlined 'It takes a village to find a police chief,' Westneat's verbal dig struck right at the heart of the Northwest's liberal enclave, and probably hit several nerves. Mayor Mike McGinn has appointed a 26-member committee to find a new police chief, and considering the mayor's devotion to fighting a legal challenge to the illegal parks gun ban enacted by his predecessor, Greg Nickels, it would be no surprise to learn that one of the committee's priorities is to find a hoplophobic top cop who thinks only police should have guns." ... |

"The Mansfield News-Journal is reporting that the influx of new concealed handgun licenses comes as the image of the average gun owner -- a middle-aged man -- is changing."
From the story:""At a recent gun show in Mansfield, where venders peddling everything from flak jackets to military meals ready-to-eat gave the event the feel of a survivalists convention, more than a few women milled around among the scores of men buying or looking."
"'Since the CCW permits, more women are getting their CCW permits than men,' said David Holden, 43, owner of an East Canton gun shop and one of the show's sellers. 'Women are the driving force in the gun sales.'"
"It wasn't always so." ... |

"Open carry laws in the State of Wisconsin have gotten a lot of attention lately, most recently from the BBC. In a column titled 'Armed and ready to shop,' posted by the BBC on March 11, North America editor Mark Mardell recounts his experience following Nick Clark and Kim Garny as they go about their daily business in the Milwaukee area while openly bearing arms on their hips." ...
"The story, though, is not so much to be found in the BBCs coverage of open carry, but in the reader reactions to the story. The comments posted by readers almost uniformly demonstrate a lack of understanding of the Second Amendment." ... |
