California politicians are busy playing politics with peoples lives again. As usual, particularly in California, their new proposed laws are sure to be a political success, but a horrible failure for the ordinary citizen. These Socialist Politicians failed in their attempt to outlaw gun directly. Today they are regulating firearms out of existence in California. |

The resident heard repeated knocking at her door, and saw a man she did not know when she looked through the peephole.
She became concerned and hid in a closet in her bedroom with a .357 revolver.
While she was on the phone with 911, the intruder entered her apartment.
Moments later, the victim came face to face with Trenton Hartman as he opened the closet door.
She fired one shot in self defense and Hartman ran away.

Did I mention there are scads of people salivating at the idea of seeing the Heller ruling overturned?
Were literally just one justice away from thatwhether its Garland or anyone else the president chooses.
Heres the deal, people. Its really easy to just point to the Second Amendment and say, SEE? Its there. End of discussion.
And yes, technically, it really is that simple.
But, since people have spent years reading things into the Constitution that arent therewe have to go deeper. |

Many news sources are turning this matter into a major spectacle castigating the U.S. Senate for allegedly dragging its feet in handling this nomination. But, there is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that requires the U.S. Senate to do anything. It need not proffer its advice and consent; and, if it does not, then the appointment cannot be made. In this instance the U.S. Senate has good reason not to proffer its advice and consent. |

At the moment the public can only speculate as to the root cause for the disruption. One thing is certain, though. Our Bill of Rights is under attack and has been under incessant assault for many years. Our Second Amendment right of the people to keep and bear arms has, for many years, slowly and systematically suffered erosion through Congressional enactments and State action. If the leading Democratic Party contender for the Office of U.S. President gets the nod and ultimately secures the Oval Office, the right of the people to keep and bear arms will likely cease to exist except as a short footnote in the history texts. And, what shall become of other fundamental rights and liberties of the People?

So Clinton is taking a different approach this time: Shes endorsed the gun control measures sought in vain by Obama after the Sandy Hook massacre, including universal background checks; and shes slammed Bernie Sanders for supporting legislation passed in 2005 giving firearms manufacturers protection from some lawsuits.
That shift is notable particularly because of her husbands experience in the White House challenging the NRA. After winning passage of a federal ban on assault weapons, Bill Clinton saw his party wiped out in the 1994 elections, giving Republicans control of the House for the first time in 40 years. Democrats suffered a net loss of 54 seats; the then-president attributed 20 of those defeats to the gun issue. |

Two Fridays ago, I awoke to the news of another shooting.
In the early morning hours of March 11, two men got into an argument at the Wooden Nickel Pub on Tucker Norcross Road in DeKalb.
The younger man, a 20-year-old with a history of arrests and violent behavior, shot 43-year-old Melvin James Dodson, described as a friendly regular who may have had a few too many. Dodson would later die from his injuries. |

Merrick Brian Garland (shown), nominated by President Obama on Wednesday to fill the vacancy left on the Supreme Court with the untimely passing of Antonin Scalia, has left footprints. They tell of a judge who isnt interested in supporting the rights Americas citizens enjoy under the Second Amendment.
In 2007, Garland voted to rescind a D.C. Circuit courts decision that invalidated Washington D.C.s strict ban against handgun ownership. That law, which even prohibited guns citizens might keep at home for self-defense, was struck down by a three-judge panel, but Garland voted to reconsider the ruling. He was joined by Judge David Tatel, known for his anti-gun bias. |

Amanda Collins had taken every lawful precaution when she was raped in 2007 on the campus of the University of Las Vegas, Reno. Since then, she has advocated for the right of women to carry a gun on campus. Only 21 states still ban campus carry.
However, opponents are alarmed at the idea of mixing students, beer and guns. They claim debate will be stifled and faculty intimidated.
Are CCW holders really a bigger threat than rapists? Just what is your VX on campus especially if youre a woman? |

In this weeks episode, we cover the kickoff of the 2016 legislative session. Its a short, ten-week session, but one that has already been filled with attempts to implement universal background checks, gut the permit system, and ban lead ammunition.
We also spend some time talking about the long game that groups like Everytown are playing right now in the state and how they hope to achieve long-term victory, greatly diminishing your Second Amendment rights. Well talk a bit about how and why we need to dramatically adjust our game plan here in Minnesota to address the rising threats from out of state interests. |

The Seattle Times endorsed Sanders several days ago, along with Republican John Kasich. On Wednesday, the newspaper editorialized in favor of hearings on the nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court. Gun rights advocates, including Bellevues Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation and chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, say Garland has an anti-gun history on the bench. |

The NRA has always been big on fairy talesyou know, like the one about how background checks are totally unnecessary, or how men who are convicted of domestic violence should totally be allowed to have guns, or the fun way they like to pretend that guns kept in the home are not many times more likely to be used in a homicide, suicide, accidental shooting than in self-defense! Not to mention insisting that guns keep us safe while states with higher gun ownership rates also have much higher gun homicide rates than states with lower gun ownership rates. SO MANY FAIRY TALES.
