"Each week, I receive a large number of emails from readers who ask me to address what they should do when the onrushing totalitarian machine known as the federal government moves to seize firearms from its citizens. This is my effort to address that question on at least two levels." ...

"I wrote in an earlier article 'it is not the gun in the hands of a freeman the tyrant fears, but the spirit of the man who possesses it.' The fact a man/woman owns the means of resistance, is, in itself, a tremendous threat to the tyrant who would use his elected/appointed position to steal, that which belongs to others, or to disarm his intended victims. The mindset of resistance to tyranny is much more powerful than any firearm. ..." ...

"... In 1989, then President George Bush Sr. enacted a 'no net loss' policy to stop the overall reduction of wetlands. Under this policy, anytime wetlands are destroyed, a new wetlands of equal size must be established."

"In recent years, this policy has also extended to public hunting lands. ... The concept is to hold ground and not lose more than was already lost."

"In the wake of the Heller decision verifying that the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is a fundamental, individual right and the fact that the soaring fate of firearms sales in this country proves that people still care about their gun rights it is time for us to demand a 'no net loss' for gun rights as well." ...

"Stopping vicious Mexican drug gangs is surely a noble goal ... We also have a serious gang problem. The U.S. Department of Justice now estimates that 80 percent of U.S. crime is linked to gangs and drugs."

"We have enjoyed the convenience of purchasing firearms without having to wait for 14 days for a number of years now. We have not seen a significant increase in crime. We have not been deprived of our constitutional rights that result when a waiting period is in place nor have the gun-control crowd been proven correct in that blood will run in the streets with such alleged easy access to guns."

"Recently Senate Bill 953 was introduced in the legislature that would reestablish this ineffectual, prior restraint on the rights of the citizens of Oregon. Waiting periods have been proven to increase crime and to endanger those who require immediate access to a defensive firearm that they are prohibited from obtaining." ...

FULL TEXT BELOW:

Earlier this week, our webmaster reported on the now infamous State of Missouri Information Analysis Center missive, "The Modern Militia Movement." Less jaded political activists reacted with the expected righteous indignation while others subtly exploited the report with the intent to whip supporters of causes as benign as medical marijuana and homeschooling into a frenzy.

Alas, you can't fool KMOV St. Louis, Channel 4. They know an enemy of the state when they see one; one of the bumper stickers they prominently featured marking an American citizen as some sort of potential terrorist was from.Antiwar.com. Yes, no one is as dangerous to the state as an advocate for peace.

David, I noticed that the Constitution Party is listed among the dangerous "patriot groups" in several states. Apparently, trying to elect candidates who merely pledge to uphold the U.S. Constitution is enough to have one branded a terrorist. In that case, since every president, congressman, and senator has taken a similar pledge--never mind that most have violated it repeatedly--they should all be imprisoned as dangerous terrorists, too.
