The Washington Senate Law & Justice Committee is scheduled to vote next week on House Bill 1240 creating a state definition of assault weapon, which the Gun Owners of America, or GOA, says would apply to most firearms. Tne of the reasons is due to the definition of assault weapons in the bill. Although the bill specifically lists 62 rifles by name regardless of which company produced and manufactured the firearm, the ban also applies to any semi-automatic rifle with a barrel length less than 30 inches. The gun barrel is the section of a firearm between the action and the muzzle. |

Gun control advocates in the Delaware General Assembly are at it again. On March 14th, anti-gun Senators introduced Senate Concurrent Resolution 12, declaring gun violence a public health crisis. They rammed it through, allowing no opportunity for public comment or debate, with the Senate quickly passing the resolution on a vote of 14-6. The House then refused to allow a roll call vote and passed the resolution by voice vote over the strong objections of Second Amendment supporters. |

Germanys conflict with the Soviet Union represented a level of brutality not seen in the other areas of Europe during World War II. Of all the German casualties suffered during the Second World War, nearly 65 percent came in the fight against Russia. Combat on the Eastern Front proved to be an unrelenting meat grinder of men and machines. |

Two years after Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee led the charge to allow residents 21 and older to carry handguns in public without a permit, younger adults could soon have the same privilege, with or without the governors signoff. A gun-rights group sued after the law was passed in 2021, arguing that the age limit should be lower. Then late last year, the states top lawyer moved to negotiate a settlement rather than defend the law, citing last years U.S. Supreme Court ruling expanding gun rights. In January, Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti proposed a deal that would allow 18- to 20-year-olds to carry handguns publicly. |

Back in the 70s, Border Patrol shootist Bill Jordan and I were sitting around with some gun folks. The conversation, a popular topic of the time, centered around the fact that some people were packing ARs, other repeating rifles and shotguns in PVC containers and burying them in their back yards, believing that confiscation was imminent. |

Self-defense is often talked about as a physical event. Were taught to scream, kick, and poke the creeps eyes out. The truth is that self-defense starts in your mind. And we use it daily, whether were aware of it or not. The best way to survive an attack is to avoid it altogether. So, every time you recognize behavior red flags or steer clear of dark alleys, youre practicing self-defense. Its as much mental as it is physical. Maybe even more. |
