Today, Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) and FPC Action Foundation (FPCAF) announced the filing of its response brief with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in their Mock v. Garland lawsuit, which challenges ATFs Pistol Brace Rule. The brief can be viewed at FPCLegal.org.

In sum, the district court correctly evaluated the irreparable-harm, balance-of-harms, and public-interest factors, which all weighed strongly in Plaintiffs favor, argues the brief. The Court should affirm the district courts preliminary injunction ruling, and enter a universal injunction that prevents the Agencies from enforcing the Final Rule.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday will push states to strengthen laws that can strip firearms from high-risk people as she visits the Parkland, Florida, high school where a gunman killed 17 people in 2018.

Harris is traveling to meet with families of the victims and see Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where the murders happened, according to a White House official.

Red flag laws allow courts to issue extreme risk protection orders removing firearms from individuals considered at risk of harming themselves or others.

Five unions and the AFL-CIO Transportation Trades Department are urging Congress to permanently extend a law banning the manufacture of untraceable firearms, also known as ghost guns. They say the guns, with no metal in them, can go through airport, bus, and train detectors and become a threat to transportation workers.

Ed.: The law is about undetectable (by magnetometers) guns, not so-called 'ghost guns'.

Some members of the Guard could be seen subduing at least one migrant, with women shouting for them to stop.

While on Thursday the migrants clearly outnumbered Texas guard personnel, on Friday the odds seemed about even.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted the state would continue to protect its citizens from disastrous open-border federal policies.

State Rep. Dan Caulkins, R-Decatur, questioned where local law enforcement, the Illinois Attorney General or gun control advocates were on this case. But Friday on the House Floor, he praised the decision, saying that standard means Illinois Firearm Owners ID card should be struck down.

Why shouldnt gun owners across the state cut up our FOID cards and be able to buy guns out of state with no worry, Caulkins said. If a person who is not legally in this state can have his constitutional rights, so can the rest of us.

Illinois State Police confirm that in order to get a FOID card, one has to attest that they are "not an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States."

Transgender people are more likely to be victims, rather than perpetrators, of gun violence. Despite the data, the increasing number of mass shootings and gun violence in the United States has been accompanied by an uptick in anti-trans narratives blaming trans and non-binary people for gun violence. In the wake of several prominent mass shootings, anti-trans narratives are used to promote common myths about gun violence that are designed to promote gun buying, block policy change and reinforce divisive far-right ideologies.

The man who shot and wounded a police officer in a Fort Lauderdale hotel room on Thursday had a history of arrests and mental health problems severe enough that police invoked Floridas touted red flag law to take his guns away two years ago. But that was only temporary. Karl Chludinsky got them back last year with no additional psychological screening required. And, armed and likely unstable, he was found dead after exchanging fire with police who burst through a barricaded door to confront him.

But it was the markdowns on the right hand column of the advertisement that sparked controversy over gun control laws in Australia.

The sale prices for the firearms ranged from $29.94 for the Boito shotgun, up to $42.88 for the automatic Stirling.

The key detail shocked younger fans of the discount mega-chain.

"Kmart sold guns?" one person questioned.

Another commented: "Rifles! You're kidding."

We are appealing this order because it defies good common sense and would give even the most violent felon a broad right to possess deadly weapons, Coleman said in a press release. The most ardent supporters of the Second Amendment, me included, recognize the constitutionality of laws prohibiting the possession of firearms by felons like the defendant here.

Ed.: I guess the founders and all other Americans between 1791 and 1968 didn't have any 'good common sense'.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again. EDWARD GIBBON [On ancient Athens]
