Our legal system doesnt work. It is time to admit it is broken. What our legal system should do in theory is not what we see in practice, and this isnt the first time weve had this problem.

When will judges appoint Special Masters to monitor and enforce civil rights laws surrounding armed defense? Tomorrow is barely soon enough because bearing arms is not a trivial right.

After the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the right to bear arms in 2022, several states simultaneously made it easier to obtain carry permits and much harder to use them. Once they could no longer require a "special need" before allowing residents to carry guns in public for self-defense, politicians in those states worried that residents would start exercising that right. Deeming that outcome intolerable, legislators banned guns from long lists of "sensitive" locations, making it highly impractical for people to legally carry guns outside their homes even after obtaining the requisite license.

During her confirmation hearing, 7th Circuit Court nominee Nancy Maldonado was questioned by Sen. John Kennedy about supporting Illinois assault weapons ban.

Maldonado had signed a brief arguing such weapons could be banned as too dangerous for self-defense.

However, when Kennedy pressed her to define assault weapon, Maldonado said she was not a gun expert and could not remember the exact definition.

When an enraged father elevated a domestic disturbance in his West Virginia home to attempted murder by firing a shotgun at his wife, his 15-year-old son turned the tables on him and said Enough! with a 20-gauge shotgun of his own.

According to The Gazette, the incident occurred last Wednesday night, March 20, when Maxwell Laham of Rock Cave, W.V., became involved in a fight with his wife that turned physical. At some point, Lahan grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun and fired a shot, but didnt strike his wife or any other inhabitantsincluding his juvenile daughter and his sonin the home.

Gordon emphasized his support of firearms in Wyoming but cited Article 2 of the Wyoming Constitution in his opposition of HB0125 Repeal gun free zones and preemption amendments. He said that the bill exceeds the separation of powers in local and state government.

I am a fervent supporter of the Second AmendmentHowever, House Bill 125/Enrolled Act No. 49, erodes historic local control norms by giving sole authority to the Legislature to micromanage a constitutionally protected right, Governor Gordon wrote in his veto letter. Any further clarification of the law, if this bill were enacted, would augment the Legislatures reach into local firearms regulation.

Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer wants America to know that todays high court isnt pragmatic. For good measure, he declares that he is, especially when it comes to interpretating law.

Thats not just conjecture. Thats laid out in the title to his new 250-page book, Reading the Constitution: Why I Chose Pragmatism, Not Textualism. Its a gaslighting of the U.S. Constitution, an attempt to sway opinion that rights protected by the founding document arent applicable today, since society and technology have changed since 1791.

The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals has heard a trio of gun cases over two days, and it demonstrated a shocking failure to function and stunning ignorance about basic firearms facts. This circuits treatment of challenges to Second Amendment infringement has been so prejudicial to the rights of Marylanders that gun rights groups have petitioned the Supreme Court to reach down and remove the case before judgment.

One of the constitutional amendments that didnt make it onto the ballot called for boosting the right of citizens to bear arms. It went beyond the usual Second Amendment protections to outlaw taxes on arms and ammunition purchases while it also curtailed the ability of law enforcement to confiscate firearms used in the commission of a crime until after a conviction.

Usually any legislation that has to do with firearms ricochets through the Capitol without much fuss. After all, we live in the land of constitutional carry and a state government that picks up the tab for federal background checks.

Police are finding so many shell casings at some shooting scenes, theyre running out of evidence markers. Some departments are resorting to paper cups.

The rapid spread of inexpensive gun switches is turning ordinary semi-automatic pistols into full-auto machine guns. With a single pull of the trigger, a 15- or 30-round magazine can be emptied in under two seconds.

Machine guns have been heavily regulated for decades. Possession of even parts to convert a gun to full auto requires a license from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Without that ATF license, possession is a federal offense punishable by a decade in prison.

Why we keep trying to reject gun culture

For over 30 years, I have been frustrated by the inevitable destruction our gun culture imposes on American life. As a state senator in Utah in the 1990s, I promoted carefully modest gun safety bills. As an ordinary contributor to Brady, Giffords, Everytown, and other gun responsibility organizations, or just as another person expressing my opinion, lost in the vastness of our media universe, the disorder of gun violence calls out for my attention as a citizen. As it is for everyone, this call is more immediate for me after a mass shooting of children, but it is always there. It is my conscience, I suppose.

There is no federal "red flag" law but that didn't stop the U.S. Justice Department from launching the new National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center over the weekend.

The Center was announced on Saturday in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the latter of which earned its "Bloomberg" in 2001 following nearly $3 billion in donations from gun control advocate Michael Bloomberg. Funded by a DOJ grant, a public-facing website developed for the center offers an easy-to-use interface to help those curious navigate the process to obtain a "red flag" gun seizure order in 21 states and the District of Columbia, typically within two or three clicks from the homepage.

The Wyoming chapter of Moms Demand Action, both part of Everytown for Gun Safetys grassroots network, issued the following statement applauding Governor Mark Gordon for vetoing HB 125. The measure would have advanced the gun lobbys dangerous guns everywhere agenda by pushing guns into government meeting spaces, schools, universities, and sporting events, while punishing anyone who refuses to allow guns in those places.

While attending the IWA Outdoor Classics show in Germany recently, Guns.com met up with Colt to see how things are going since its recent acquisition by CZ.

The storied Czech gunmaker picked up the iconic American brand in 2021 as part of a mixed cash-and-stock transaction that left the new Colt CZ group in its wake. Since then, the group, employing some 2,000 worldwide, unsuccessfully attempted to purchase Vista Outdoor's ammo brands before opting to acquire Czech ammunition manufacturer Sellier & Bellot earlier this year.
