On last Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration gave Amazon the green light to begin testing drones
While you arent likely to be getting your Amazon order delivered by drone anytime soon, as the approval is limited to research and testing, the fact remains that this technology is already part of our lives. Drones are already helping the federal government observe and track us in new and often troubling ways, without our knowledge or consent.

The sweeping gun-control law Maryland enacted after the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre impermissibly bans firearms that people commonly keep in their homes for self-defense, a lawyer for gun-rights advocates told a federal appeals court Wednesday.

Gun-rights advocates did not try to overturn most of the Firearms Safety Act of 2013's provisions, including its fingerprinting and licensing requirements for handgun buyers. However, John Parker Sweeney urged a three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn two key provisions of the 2013 law: the ban on 45 assault weapons, and the 10-round limit on gun magazines.

Hundreds of students staged a rally at the University of Nevada, Reno Wednesday over legislation that would allow guns on university campuses.

Protesters demanded that Nevada lawmakers oppose AB 148, sponsored by Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, R-Las Vegas. The proposal passed a committee vote last Wednesday. It still has not gone before the full Assembly and Senate.

Cops and military personnel wear body armor not because theyre going to get shot, but because it could happen. Statistically speaking, the likelihood of getting shot on the job is remote, but nobody can dispute that cops get shot at and, therefore, those who wield guns for a living must prepare to shoot others and to get shot.

Preparing for rare possibilities is what cops, SWAT teams, soldiers, Marines, airmen and seamen do for a living. But, obviously, you dont have to be a cop, a soldier or a contractor to prepare. Those who carry guns for self defense and are serious about it, must have a mindset that is totally different from those who dont.

Don't label Rep. Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda as just a Democrat.

Over the last seven years she's represented Tallahassee as a lawmaker in the Florida Legislature, Vasilinda has made the focus of her service to the people of Leon County her primary mission, regardless of party affiliation.

Calling it a right of self defense, a Senate panel voted late Tuesday to give the go-ahead for hundreds of thousands of Arizonans to bring their guns into public buildings.

HB 2320, approved by the Appropriations Committee on a 5-3 vote, would overturn existing laws which say it is a crime for anyone to ignore the posting of a no weapons sign on a building. Instead, anyone with a state-issued permit to carry a concealed weapon could remain armed.

Under the terms of the measure, which now goes to the full Senate, the only time they could be stopped is if the local government agency spent the money installing metal detectors at each entrance and hiring guards to monitor them.

But to be clear, while the Bible does speak to self-defense, there are no references to guns. But even this point is immaterial. The Constitution is our guiding document of governance.

And what does the Constitution say about guns?

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The Supreme Court has interpreted this to mean that Americans have a Constitutional right to own guns whether or not they read the Bible or share Birdwells religious beliefs. Its not a God-given guarantee.

The House and Senate gave approval to a controversial bill Wednesday authorizing people over 21 years of age to carry concealed any type of firearm without obtaining weapons training or securing a state license.

It has been legal for nine years to carry concealed in Kansas with a permit. About 90,000 people have obtained that license after undergoing a background check, completing a safety program and paying a fee. State law also allows open carry of firearms.

Repeal of Kansas permit mandate for conceal-carry was framed as a reflection of the right to bear arms in the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the 2010 amendment added to the Kansas Constitution.

The facts are a testament to the Second Amendment right to bear arms and how possession of a handgun can sometimes come in handyif possessing and using a handgun to save ones life is considered handy. So, here is what the trial revealed:

The defendant, Brown, came up behind a victim wielding his .40 caliber handgun and demanded the victims bracelet. The victim pulled out his own .25 caliber handgun and shot Brown in self-defense. Brown scurried off leaving a trail of blood. The police found and arrested Brown at a nearby hospital and matched Browns blood to the blood on the victims sidewalk.

Texas Tech Young Democrats and members of the Lubbock County Democratic party protested Wednesday afternoon on the campus of Texas Tech, at the corner of Broadway Street and University Avenue. Theyre concerned about a legislative proposal to allow concealed carry of handguns on college campuses.

A majority of protesters stated they felt safe on campus, and did not think the best way to solve a gun problem is to bring in more guns.

Protester Stuart Williams said, Its important to me because a majority of Texans did not want this bill. We did not want this bill. It was pushed upon us. It is not safe.

Common sense just took a huge step forward as the Kiona-Benton School Board voted Monday night to allow designated school administrators to carry guns on campus, providing an extra level of security for students and staff.

According to KNDU, School Superintendent Wade Haun said, I think the big takeaways are the fact that our students will be better protected and our staff will be well-trained and we will continue to train other staff members as well in other ways to keep our kids safe.

However, to paraphrase former Vice President Spiro Agnew, the news has gotten a thumbs-down from the nattering nannies of negativism. Said one critic: There is ZERO reason for anyone to be carrying loaded guns at a school!

Early Tuesday morning, another Dominos Pizza delivery driver was shot and killed in New Orleans 9th Ward.

Breitbart News has previously reported that Dominos Pizza bars their drivers from keeping guns with them for self-defense. Sadly, this does not stop armed attackers from preying on the unarmed drivers.

On February 11, I reported at least eight Dominos Pizza drivers had been shot since January 2012, and three of them died. Now we add the driver killed on March 24 to the list, along with another Dominos driver who was shot and killed in New Orleans Mid-City six months ago.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) spoke with Republican donors over the weekend in South Florida, urging them to be wary of presidential hopefuls whove flip-flopped on important issues.

Keep that in mind when considering the latest report on the unannounced presidential hopeful (thanks to my colleague Tricia McKinney for the heads-up).
Gov. Chris Christie said he would consider revisiting New Jerseys strict gun laws if he had a Republican-led legislature.

In response to a question about his support for the Second Amendment, the potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate said that New Jerseys Democrat-led Legislature has sent him only bills that further restrict these rights, many of which he has vetoed.

While many gun rights activists focus their resources on federal court cases to stop states from enacting gun control measures, a bill passed by an important Tennessee state House subcommittee today flips things around by using the state to address federal gun control.

Introduced by Rep. Terri Lynn Weaver and Sen. Richard Briggs, House Bill 1341 (HB1341) and Senate Bill 1110 (SB1110), prohibit the state from carrying Uncle Sams water by implementing or enforcing federal gun laws, rules, regulations and orders that are contrary to the Tennessee state constitution.

A year ago, Corvallis City Council was faced with a dilemma.

Community members had expressed concerns to the council about seeing a man in a local park carrying a gun.

But just what could and should they do about it?

Like many other city councils might have done, considering the controversy, our elected officials did not simply kick the can down the road, saying it was above their pay grade.

Instead, they launched a series of 11 public meetings that elicited more than a dozen hours of impassioned testimony from people on both sides of the debate. Residents lobbying for Second Amendment rights declared their opinions with equal fervor to residents who were afraid for their safety when seeing guns openly carried.

A ban on abusers having guns that victims advocates say is key to saving lives in South Carolina could still be revived despite resistance to it as a bill made its way this week through a House committee, lawmakers said Wednesday.

Rep. Chip Limehouse, R-Charleston, noting he has an A+ rating from the National Rifle Association, said he plans to tell his Republican colleagues that the ban would not infringe on Second Amendment rights.

Attorneys for the state of Maryland squared off with gun rights advocates in federal appeals court Wednesday over the constitutionality of Marylands 2013 ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

The law, passed five months after the mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., is being challenged by a group of gun stores, gun-ownership organizations and individuals. They argue that the ban on commonly owned guns violates their Second Amendment right to bear arms.
