South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) recently signed into law a bill that removes all fees associated with concealed-carry permits, strengthening South Dakotans ability to exercise their Second Amendment freedoms.
Three years ago, I took a bold stand by signing constitutional carry into law to ensure there were no barriers between South Dakotans and their rights, Noem told Fox News. This week, I took the step to remove a financial barrier. It shouldnt cost you a penny to exercise your Second Amendment rights. Government exists to protect our rights, not profit from them. |

Idaho is one of the most vital states that protect the Second Amendment. The Gem State is the outlier compared to Washington State. The state recently passed laws that would restrict the rights of Washingtonians to defend themselves using firearms.
The Seattle Times reports that Washington has passed two bills that have drawn praise from Liberal Governor Jay Inslee. He signed both bills into law joyfully in front of the state's media.

Beth Furnish of Moms Demand Action said legislators betray Oklahomans when they pass laws for lobbies instead of citizens.
Oklahomans started paying attention to what our lawmakers were doing after they passed permitless carry, which was opposed by a strong majority of Oklahomans, even gun owners and Republicans. Oklahomans are getting tired of our lawmakers passing the wish list of the gun lobby, said Furnish. |

Before the pandemic, gun restrictionists would often argue that ownership was on the decline and that large numbers of firearms were in the hands of relatively few people. The reality was that the number of households with firearms (or, rather, households that admitted to owning firearms) has remained relatively consistent at around 44 percent, according to a Gallup poll. The pandemic has almost certainly pushed that number higher. According a University of Chicago study, around 18 percent of U.S. households bought firearms during the pandemic. |

In todays Wall Street Journal, both the editorial board and law professor Randy Barnett have fine pieces highlighting how remarkable it is that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson saw fit to offer various bows and curtsies to the interpretive methodology of originalism. Of course, neither WSJ nor Barnett is gulled by Jacksons testimony. As Barnett points out, its one thing to sound like an originalistin an evident attempt to smooth ones path to confirmationand its quite another to actually be an originalist. I like this line from the house editorial: If originalism is only one tool in Judge Jacksons toolbox, she might also have a buzz saw in there. |

Next Tuesday, the House State Affairs Committee is scheduled to consider safe storage legislation, House Bill 203. This measure is nothing more than an attempt to vilify gun owners for the criminal acts of others. It is important that you please contact committee members and ask them to OPPOSE House Bill 203.
House Bill 203 gives law enforcement the ability to issue a fine to gun owners of up to $1,000 if a prohibited individual gains access to their firearm and proceeds to injure themself or another. This bill will essentially require firearms to be locked and rendered inaccessible for self-defense in the home. |

Those kits, generically called 80 percenters because they require some finishing work by the buyer, were subsequently taken to the Pennsylvania Attorney Generals office where they were finished, assembled, and actually fired on camera. The report aired on March 17.
This sort of sensationalism is designed to generate ratings and raise viewer alarms, said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. However, our alarms were raised because of the possible felonies that may have been committed by the reporter and the office of Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro.
The issue was initially raised by Ammoland journalist John Crump, who frequently writes about the firearms industry. |

Governor Kay Ivey recently signed legislation to make Alabama the 22nd state in the nation to adopt a constitutional carry law that eliminates the requirement for a person to obtain a concealed carry permit to lawfully carry a pistol. The new law goes into effect on January 1, 2023.
The states constitutional carry law was among the topics of discussion last week during the Shooting Sports Showcase at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. POMA (Professional Outdoor Media Association) and SEOPA (Southeastern Outdoor Press Association) hosted the event at the stellar 500-acre shooting range with Cheaha Mountain as a backdrop. |

Howard did not contest that he shot and killed Delaney Crosby, 23, of South Bend, inside University Park Mall in Mishawaka in September 2020 a shooting that sent shoppers fleeing for safety at the mall just east of South Bend.
But Howard said he acted in self-defense in response to Crosbys actions leading up to the shooting, and a series of threats from Crosby that began in 2018.
Both men were with groups of people who engaged in an extended argument as they walked through the mall and eventually, video footage showed, Howard pulled a gun out of his backpack and shot Crosby five times. |

Yesterday, Governor Spencer Cox signed Senate Bill 115, to enhance Utahs firearm preemption law. With this action, Governor Spencer Cox continues to show his commitment to the Second Amendment, adding to the list of pro-gun bills he has signed into law, which includes constitutional carry from last year.
Senate Bill 115 enhances Utahs existing firearm preemption statute by providing a mechanism to ensure compliance. Firearm preemption occupies the field of firearm laws and regulations with the state, preventing localities from enacting their own gun control, which in turn could create a confusing patchwork of regulations and ordinances. This helps ensure consistency in firearm laws throughout the state of Utah. |

The National Rifle Association is urging a federal appeals court to strike down a Florida law that bans people under the age of 21 from buying guns. A lower court upheld the measure, which state lawmakers passed in the wake of the Parkland shooting.
During a hearing at the U.S. Court of Appeals in Miami on Thursday, an attorney for the NRA argued the law violates Second Amendment and equal protection rights.
The right in Florida has been turned into a privilege for a few and that is not a right at all, NRA attorney John Sweeney said. |

I asked Ell what common ground believing conservatives and atheist conservatives have that may be surprising, and she said that the most surprising issue is abortion.
Some atheist conservatives support limiting abortions, while others want outright bans, she told me. Some atheists view abortion as eliminating a life.
Other issues that religious and non-religious conservatives have in common include Second Amendment rights, education, immigration, border policy, international events, and taxation. Ell also told me that many Republican Atheists group members are aware of those fleeing locales with strict COVID-19 protocols for freer areas. |
