"Even though he may be the last human being on earth doing it, it's still not exactly a man-bites-dog story to learn that anti-gun junk-scientist Dr. Arthur Kellermann is defending anti-gun junk-historian Michael A. Bellesiles, author of Arming America: The Origins of A National Gun Culture (Knopf, 2000). If ever birds of the same feather have flocked together, it's these two characters."

Kellermann has said, preposterously, that the evidence questioning Bellesiles' scholarship is "thin and clearly driven by individuals outraged that his book challenges long-cherished beliefs about guns in early American history."

The implication here is obvious: the movers and shakers behind the critiques of Bellesiles are pro-gun people. But, is this true? No, it is not.

The group, We the People, claims that the IRS does not have the legal authority to force employers to withhold taxes from employee paychecks or to force most Americans to file a return or pay income taxes.

"The day of infamy actually occurred far earlier than September 11. It occurred when airplanes were made gun-free zones. The track record of gun-free zones is how shall we say this? less than impressive. Post offices, schools and now, airplanes."

How many children of this state have died at the hands of a doctor who made a mistake ... been injured in school bus accidents ... been killed by those household cleaners and chemicals ... drowned in family pools?"

'The USA Patriot Act has so many sweeping provisions that undermine the privacy of everybody in this country, whether they are suspected of any crime at all, let alone a terrorist crime.'

Let's first examine the question posed by Channel 2, "Should people with weapons permits be allowed to carry a hidden gun into schools?"

The question itself is poorly stated to begin with.

It should state, "Should upstanding, responsible, law-abiding citizens, who have taken the responsibility and the constitutional right to carry a concealed weapon who are licensed to do such, be allowed to enter schools as they pick up their children?"

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
You are bound to meet misfortune if you are unarmed because, among other reasons, people despise you....There is simply no comparison between a man who is armed and one who is not. It is unreasonable to expect that an armed man should obey one who is unarmed, or that an unarmed man should remain safe and secure when his servants are armed. In the latter case, there will be suspicion on the one hand and contempt on the other, making cooperation impossible. Niccolo Machiavelli in "The Prince."
