The target is out in the open and frozen in place, only 20 feet away.
Hollow-point bullets are flying from the Sig Sauers 4-inch barrel, blooming on impact like deadly flowers. But the only things hitting their mark are the shell casings bouncing off my forehead and face as I fire again.
Youre just a bit low, Jace Goodling says as a clod of dirt explodes a foot shy of the target.
Bang. Still low. Focus. Squeeze the trigger, dont jerk it.
Bang! And now youre too high. |

Georgia lawmakers sent Gov. Nathan Deal a bill permitting licensed gun owners to carry concealed handguns on public college campuses early Friday, hoping they've made enough changes to win over the Republican who vetoed a similar measure last year.
The House and Senate both approved the compromise measure after midnight, the traditional end to the legislative session, following several hours of closed-door debates between members for both chambers. |

Proposed state legislation could allow volunteer firefighters and paramedics to carry a handgun when responding to 911 calls.
House Bill 435 would allow volunteer firefighters and EMS workers to carry a handgun while on duty if they have a concealed carry permit. While some see potential risks for their department, local fire officials say you never know what you're going to get when you arrive at the scene. Firearm policies for first responders are currently set at the local level and vary by location. |

The case has triggered a heated debate on social media in China about citizens' right to self-defense, as well as the plight of small entrepreneurs under China's economic policy amid a prolonged downturn in China's economy.
The debate has been particularly sharp among China's legal scholars.
"China's law does not really encourage people to defend themselves, because that would be encouraging them to rise up and resist [authority]," Anhui Province-based lawyer Wang Liang Qi commented online. "That is not something that the nation's rulers hope to see." |

However, they did not know that a young man was home at the time.
Officials say the homeowners 23-year-old son killed all three teens with an AR-15 before barricading himself inside his bedroom.
One of the alleged suspects was found to have a knife, while another was carrying brass knuckles.
The intruders were identified as 19-year-old Maxwell Cook, 17-year-old Jacob Redfern and 16-year-old Jaykob Woodriff. |

"I realized that I'm statistically more likely to be a victim. I'm trans, I'm a person of color, I'm more likely to be targeted.
I'm more likely to be in a place where everyone is being targeted, just like the Orlando folks. I was just like, damn, I need a gun more than these conservative rednecks do."

Stand your ground laws played no role at all in the Zimmerman/Martin confrontation, a lie Fulton continues to spread. Neither the prosecution nor the defense in the Zimmerman case made any mention of Floridas implementation of stand your ground laws for one very simple reason: George Zimmerman never had a chance to stand his ground. Zimmerman was approached from behind, sucker punched, mounted, and viciously attacked by a violent young criminal named Trayvon Martin. Zimmerans defense was a straight self-defense case. |

"Why am I allowed to carry at a local movie theater, but not the campus theater?" asks Lewis. "That's the case we made." The group attracted interest from the Second Amendment Foundation, a fringe gun-rights group that is currently suing the State Department on behalf of the inventor of the 3D-printed gun. SAF's founder, Alan Gottlieb, who is 69, hosted some of the SCC members at a 2007 conference outside Cincinnati and saw a "perfect marriage" with the pro-gun millennials. Before a crowd of elderly white men, SCC's college-age leaders were greeted like rock stars. "Not old, white, bald guys!" Gottlieb says. "It was great!" |

Three Massachusetts residents are asking a federal judge to prevent the state from enforcing its stun gun and Taser ban, arguing that their constitutional rights continue to be violated every day the statute remains on the books.
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the right to keep and bear arms including non-lethal arms such as Tasers and stun guns, and Massachusetts complete ban on the possession and sale of electrical weapons violates this right, wrote attorneys for the three Bay Staters Christopher Martel, Donna Major and Madeleine Bates. |

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D.) wants the state's legislature to adopt a bill forbidding citizens from purchasing more than one gun per month.
McAuliffe submitted the proposal, which includes punishments of up to a year in prison and a $2,500 fine, as an amendment to an unrelated, Republican-backed gun bill that would have prevented other states from obtaining information about concealed-handgun permit holders in Virginia. The "one-gun-a-month" proposal is a throwback to a law enacted under Democratic Gov. L. Douglas Wilder in 1993. The was repealed by Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell (R.) in 2012. Virginia Democrats and gun control activists have worked to reinstate the law since then. |

Gun sales are up, and accidental gun injuries are down, according to a report released this month by the National Safety Council.
The NSCs Injury Facts -2017 Edition shows a 17 percent decrease in accidents involving firearms from 2014 to 2015, a period when gun sales soared.
There were 489 unintentional firearms-related fatalities during that time period, the lowest total since record-keeping began in 1903, accounting for less than 1 percent of accident deaths. This decrease, which was the largest percentage decline of any category cited in the NSCs report, came in a year that saw record-high firearm sales. |

But while Democrats were busy grilling the judge about his positions vis a vis abortion, euthanasia, the Second Amendment and other key constitutional questions, some Republicans in Congress seemed less focused on his judicial and political orientation and more interested in his regional identity, intent on painting their man as a dyed in the wool Westerner and a necessary corrective to the courts Eastern sensibilities. |

Of course, we should remind those who see such a convention as their chance to get rid of all those pesky constitutional provisions that keep them from installing a government more to their liking that there are no guarantees such a convention might end up with participants who think its time to get rid of the Second Amendment and the Electoral College.
If 2018 is a wave electionif Democrats, rational Republicans and Independents come out in force to reject Donald Trump and those who have enabled himsuch a convention might prove to be an unpleasant surprise to its current enthusiasts. |

The Senate this week voted in favor of reducing the handgun licensing fee in the Lone Star State while the House is looking at allowing carry without a permit altogether.
The Senate on Monday approved SB 16 which would drop permit fees from $140 to $40 on first-time applications and renewals from $70 to $40 in a 26-5 vote. A legislative priority for Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Texas has some of the highest handgun license costs in the country says bill author, Sen. Robert Nichols, R-Jacksonville. |

NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch joined NRATVs Stinchfield Thursday to talk about why Judge Neil Gorsuch's confirmation to the Supreme Court is crucial for preserving the rights of gun owners.
The sooner that we get Gorsuch on the bench, the sooner that we replace an originalist with an originalistsomeone who believes in our rights as the founders identified them in our founding documentsthen the easier its going to be to make sure that our rights are defended, Loesch said. |

What students do not need is the added fear of gun violence on campus. Thats particularly true right now, as the wave of homicides continues to build. The death of a U of L student in a shooting at the Tim Faulkner Gallery in Portland earlier this month has brought tragedy home to Belknap Campus.
Nevertheless, on Friday, advocates of open carry plan to exercise their rights by parading around the perimeter of the campus, brandishing all manner of firearms.
Guns arent allowed on the campus, and in the wake of tragedies in recent years like the mass shooting at Virginia Tech, thats a good policy. The only responsible policy. |

Hes referring to how the video-sharing giant is categorizing popular conservative issue proponents as extremist and limiting their audiences by placing them in restricted mode.

On August 1, 2017, North Dakota will become the 13th state that adopts constitutional carry. After the State Senate passed the measure on March 21 in a 34-13 vote, Gov. Doug Burgum signed the bill into law on March 23making it official that the state will join the small but growing club of states that allow law-abiding gun owners to carry their firearms without a permit. You still have to undergo a background check to lawfully own firearms and if youre carrying, you need to inform law enforcement if approached: |
