About 30 people exercised their first amendment rights Saturday afternoon on Solano Street at Toomes Avenue to declare their support of the second amendment and their right to bear arms. Many present were members of the Corning Patriots, a group of about 20 that meets regularly and organized Saturdays rally, according to member Patty Smith, of Paskenta. Im so frustrated with the gun control advocates getting all the limelight, Smith said. We need our outlet. |

A home invaders night didnt go as planned on Friday as he was shot in the leg by a resident of the home, police said. The man was shot after he kicked in the door of a home near 300 E. 3480 South at about 10:25 p.m. Friday, South Salt Lake police spokesman Gary Keller said. A man who was in the house ran to a back room, grabbed a gun and then shot the invader in the leg, Keller said. The two people involved in the shooting knew each other and had some kind of history, Keller added. |

Looking at the Bond Arms BullPup9, something just looks wrong. The barrel seems impossibly short (in fact, the barrel is more than 3 inches long, which is generous for a subcompact pistol). This apparent magic is made possible by the bullpup configuration, which means the action of the pistol is behind the trigger group. While not entirely uncommon in long guns, the concept is rather unusual for handguns.

The gun control debate continues as gun control advocates protested in front of a suburban gun shop on Saturday. From the streets to schools to shops, the gun control debate is raging across the country. One flashpoint is the sale of assault rifles like the one used in the massacre in Florida that left 17 dead. Major retailers like Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods have said they won't sell guns to customers under 21 and both have restrictions on ammunition sales. |

Idaho would become the latest state to prevent convicted domestic abusers from owning guns under a proposal headed to the House floor. The House Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee, a Republican-dominant panel, on March 1 spent several hours debating the Democratic-backed measure before agreeing to send HB 585 to the House floor. The measure passed on a voice vote despite extensive questioning from the committee and one failed attempt to send the proposal to be amended which would have effectively killed it for the year. |

Democrats, in a feat of political exploitation unrivaled in the 21st century, are now using the kids from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School to sign fundraising emails. Part of me had hoped the party of grave-dancing would find using children in this way would be a bridge too far, but the rest of me knew they didnt have it in them to be tactful, decent people. After all, every left-wing activist group had, one day after the shooting, started sweeping into town to organize what they and their fellow travelers in the media all claimed was an organic, grassroots response to the tragedy.

Fighting gun violence and making schools safer were the hottest topics Saturday morning during an Iowa legislators forum at Madison Elementary School, Davenport. Other topics came up, such as school funding and tax cuts. But the most questions and the loudest applause from the large crowd surrounded those subjects in light of the Feb. 14 mass school shooting in Parkland, Fla., where 17 people were gunned down by a former student. |

Seattle-based REI (for Recreational Equipment, Inc.) is the latest company to display an anti-gun-rights attitude, announcing Thursday that it has placed a hold on future orders with Vista Outdoor brands, such as CamelBak and Giro because Vista also owns gun and ammunition companies.
Seattle is considered the Northwest capitol of political snowflake liberals. They may be cringing Friday morning because of the disclosure that President Donald Trump met Thursday night with National Rifle Association executives and Vice President Mike Pence. This came 24 hours after the highly-publicized Wednesday meeting between Trump and Capitol Hill leaders from both parties on guns and school violence. |

After a break of more than five weeks, lawmakers return Tuesday ready to confront issues ranging from marijuana to gun control to assisted suicide to spending. The clock is ticking: Because this is the second leg of the 149th General Assembly, bills that arent passed when lawmakers leave the capitol for the final time on July 1 (or June 30, if one is optimistic) die, creating some extra urgency for certain issues. |

A pro gun rally that began organically with a post on Facebook drew an estimated 300 gun advocates to the State Capitol Sunday afternoon. The rally comes on the eve of a Senate vote which will have little impact on those who were there. Their shirts and signs proclaimed their patriotism and their allegiance to the Second Amendment.
