Whenever there is a school shooting, the topic of arming teachers seems to always come up. "I'm very distraught about the violence that is occurring in these schools and I want to make kids, educators and administrators feel safe," State Representative Beau LaFave said. Republican Representative Beau LaFave authored House Bills 4277 & 4278. The bill would allow school districts to arm teachers with pepper spray. In the past, LaFave has authored bills which would allow teachers to carry firearms. "I personally believe the best defense against an armed intruder with an AR-15 a shot gun or a pistol, is an AR-15, a shotgun or a pistol - unfortunately I can't get that signed by the governor right now," LaFave said.

READING, PA A state trooper whose patrol vehicle collided last summer with an SUV on Route 422 in western Berks County, killing an East Cocalico Township couple, was found at fault but faces no criminal charges, authorities disclosed today.
Trooper Kevin J. Lee of the Reading station was charged in January with three summary counts....
The investigation determined that Lee was traveling too fast for conditions when he went through the red light with his siren and emergency lights on, Adams said. Mature corn plants in the adjacent field may have kept the Coolings from seeing or hearing the trooper's approaching vehicle.
Submitter's note: The charge is negligent homicide. Special treatment for only one. |

The push to allow North Carolina teachers to carry guns in school has gained momentum recently with the filing of similar bills in the N.C. Senate and N.C. House.
N.C. Sen. Jerry Tillman, who represents Randolph County, co-sponsored the School Security Act of 2019, filed March 6, that would boost the salaries of teachers who underwent specialized police training to carry firearms on campus. The week prior to that, the School Self-Defense Act was filed in the state House to allow for armed teachers. It, however, would not pay them extra for taking on that responsibility. |

Most people in the United States believe human life has value; most think it is wrong to steal, rape, and murder. Those attitudes are the result of a long struggle against human nature, to build Western Civilization based on Judeo-Christian values. It is an outlier in human history. Yet, most of us take it for granted.
The most dangerous people are those who have not accepted the core values of our society. To them, people outside their inner circle have no value, except as a resource to be used and consumed. They camouflage themselves to look like normal people. They are looking for opportunities to prey on the unwary. |

A total of 4,870 applications were filed in the third quarter of 2018/19 compared to 5,424 applications in the 2017/18 period, he said.
It was observed with concern that 50 percent of the applications were for handguns, pistols and revolvers and the justification for the demand of handguns is self-defense, Kashikola said. This trend is likely to continue in the near future.
There is a need to improve on arms and ammunition control mechanism by promulgating enabling legislation, he said. |

That lawmakers in the great state of Hawaii boyhood home of anti-Second Amendment president Barack Obama want to end the right of the people to keep and bear arms, therefore, comes as no surprise. What is shocking, however, is the openness of the attack.
Introduced by Democratic state Senators Stanley Chang of District 9, Karl Rhoads of District 13, Rosalyn Baker of District 6, Dru Kanuha of District 3, and Laura H. Thielen of District 25, SRC 42 urges the U.S. Congress to repeal the Second Amendment or at the very least, to clarify it so that it no longer enshrines an individual right. |

A group of Hawaii state legislators wants Congress to repeal the right to bear arms or at least specify that it is not an individual right. The resolution filed Tuesday in the Hawaiian Senate, SCR42, is backed by freshman state Sen. Stanley Chang, best known for defeating the chambers last Republican in 2016.
Changs measure, which has four co-sponsors, would request Washington discuss either scrapping the Second Amendment altogether or clarifying that it only applies to organizations such as state militias. |

"For a long time since I've been back in Arkansas, I have feared for my son's life!" Flowers exclaimed. "Now he's, he's out of Arkansas. And I thank God he is when you're bringing up crap like this. It offends me! And then to limit the debate too! This is crazy!"
The committee's chair repeatedly told Sen. Flowers she was out of order.
The bill fell one vote short of passing.
The bill's sponsor hopes to bring the bill back up Monday and get one extra "yes" vote. |

In front of a packed house Thursday morning, Teller County commissioners passed a resolution to protect their 2nd Amendment rights to keep and bear arms for all citizens.
At least four Colorado counties have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries in response to the red-flag gun bill passed by the state House on Monday and headed to the state Senate. However, Teller County does not want to be referred to as a 'sanctuary.'
Commissioners said the word sanctuary comes with too much baggage. |

In my last post, I discussed a step by step approach to adding skills to your defensive ability with a handgun. But there is more than the previously discussed skill sets of drawing your pistol, efficient reloads, malfunction clearances, and alternate shooting positions. All the while it is agreed that solid shooting fundamentals (stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, breathing, trigger control, and follow through) are the building blocks of good shooting. |

For those who think that tougher gun laws and fewer mass shootings aren't connected, new research begs to differ.
The study found there are more mass shootings in U.S. states with weaker gun control laws and higher levels of gun ownership, and that difference has increased in recent years.
Columbia University researchers tracked nationwide data and identified 344 mass shootings between 1998 and 2015. They also assessed gun laws in different states, using a score from 0 (completely restrictive) to 100 (completely permissive). |

Todays compact double column pistol provides ample ammunition for most off-duty encounters. Police officers used to carry a handgun off-duty because we knew the realistic (although statistically rare) possibility of happening upon a convenience store robbery while stopping to get milk after a late shift at night. A 5-shot snub nose .38 revolver could handle that situation for us (along with our excellent training and calm nerves of course!). |

Over the past year or so, extremist gun control laws have exploded in several states, primarily as a result of urban majorities riding roughshod over their rural neighbors.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Washington and Oregon, two states with historically liberal gun laws and low crime rates, that have been overwhelmed by a combination of growing urban populations and a sudden influx of cash from anti-rights billionaires. |

When the Supreme Court agreed to hear N.Y. State Rifle & Pistol Assn v. The City of New York (N.Y. Rifle & Pistol) in late January, it broke a decade-long reticence on the Second Amendment. The case, a challenge to a New York City law restricting the transportation of handguns, isnt the minor issue it may seem at first glance. Indeed, N.Y. Rifle & Pistol is much more than a case about a dumb city lawit will set the future of how all Second Amendment cases are decided in this country. |
