It now goes to the House floor for further consideration. Please contact your state representative and ask them to SUPPORT HB 542.

Liberty and responsibility are obverse sides of the same coin. Historian Russell Kirk once wrote, Every right is married to a duty; every freedom owes a corresponding responsibility. When we exercise our liberties, we assume responsibility for the consequences of that free exercise. I recently wrote about making the transition from gun owner to armed citizen, and making concealed-carry of a handgun part of everyday life. It is a wonderful thing to exercise our natural rights, but when we do so, the newfound responsibilities that accompany those rights will change our lives in certain ways.

While the M1911 is one of the most popular handguns in the U.S., attempts have been made to drag the century-old design into the modern era, kicking and screaming. The most significant of these is the 2011 hybrid frame design first introduced in the 1990s, which combined a polymer grip frame that housed a double-stack magazine with an alloy main frame section. Once reserved for high-end competition race guns, 2011 pistols are making their way into duty and self-defense holsters thanks to the popularity of models like the STI Staccato and Springfield Prodigy.

The NRA just sent out a political alert that contained this line about Montana: Montana House to Vote on Concealed Carry Permit Reciprocity. News Flash. The Montana Shooting Sports Association successfully pushed a bill in 1993 that I wrote to give Montana permit reciprocity. That Montana law was improved in 1995 with another bill I wrote. Because of that success, Montana recognizes all other state permits, and Montana permits are honored by 34 other states. Plus, Montana is now permitless for both open and concealed carry, so we even let people from New York and California carry here.

On Wednesday, March 8, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold public hearings on two extreme measures that target law-abiding citizens and the firearms industry: Senate Bill 427 by Sen. Joseph Cervantes (D-Las Cruces), imposes a 14-day waiting period on all firearm purchases, with an exception for concealed handgun licensees. Like House Bill 100, this measure will add nothing to the existing FBI background check process and will only delay your ability to exercise your Second Amendment right to defend yourself, your family and your property.

One gun-related bill thats advancing through the Texas Senate would allow district clerks to carry handguns to work if they have proper training. County, district and U.S. attorneys can already do this. Senate Bill 599 was filed by Sen. Brian Birdwell, R-Granbury, after a constituent expressed his concerns.

During his 2022 State of the Union address, President Joe Biden promised he would "keep doing everything in my power" to eliminate "ghost guns you can buy online and make at home." But Biden actually tried to do something that was not in his power: He purported to ban that previously legal business by administrative decree, provoking a preliminary injunction that was expanded last week.

Theres no denying the 6.5 Creedmoor round was well-marketed, but it wouldnt still be around if it didnt also have some serious merits. To be clear, were not crowning any Creedmoor as king of the world so unclench.

The New Orleans City Council's Criminal Justice Committee took a step towards holding adults accountable for kids who get their hands on guns. The fanatics among us often build their own handheld weapons, but in the realm of big-bore factory production choices, there are few better than the Magnum Research BFR and Smith & Wesson Performance Center XVR in two of the most potent, albeit incredibly different chamberings: .45-70 Government and .460 S&W Magnum.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Our Founding Fathers were proud that Americans were trusted with arms because they knew that only when people are armed could they truly be thought of as free citizens. And that's where the circle closes. Those who want to deprive you of your right to keep and bear arms are intending to deprive you of your freedom, period. Like the criminals their policies encourage, these elitists know that it is always best to disarm victims before you enslave them. Charley Reese
