Wondering what the heck was going on, they proceeded over to the gun counter to ask the clerk what the dillio was, and lo and behold the gun racks were nekked! Freak out number two.

Yep, by the end of the business day the guns were gone. The rifles, shotguns, and pistols were . . . lock stock and two smoking barrels . . . pretty much history. For those with short-term memory loss, this was not a small shop with a couple of Ruger .22s and a few boxes of CCI 40 grain hollow points but a national retail chain with a stonkin firearm stockade.

According to Rasmussen Reports, seventy-five percent (75%) of Americans believe the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of an average citizen to own a gun, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Just 14% say gun ownership is not a constitutional right. Eleven percent (11%) are not sure.

There is an old saying that free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it. However, in the case of free legal advice, this is not exactly correct. It actually has the potential to cost you a great deal and this is especially true where criminal law is implicated such as in the case of self-defense.

In fact, the right to use force in defense of self and others is one of the least understood legal concepts in American jurisprudence. Unfortunately, most citizens erroneously believe that they do understand the concept based upon simplistic word-of-mouth anecdotes and advice.

Now is the time to nail down some facts. The opposition knows Sen. Reid is far from being a beltway liberal but they will strive to convince voters, especially conservative and rural voters, that Reid is out of touch with Nevada. ...

Sen. Reid tossed a big wrench in the machine when he said last week he would oppose any renewal of the poorly named and poorly designed Assault Weapon Ban. This should not surprise Nevada gun owners who have followed Reids record supporting our Second Amendment rights. Reid consistently voted no on that gun ban, no in 1994, no in 2004, and now no again following Attorney General Eric Holders statement that renewing the ban was a promise of the Obama campaign.

Alaska Sen. Mark Begich has told the Obama administration he will oppose any gun restrictions officials may be considering.

In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, Begich, a Democrat, said the Justice Department should enforce existing laws rather than propose additional laws he said could infringe on Second Amendment rights.

Begich said the ability to legally own firearms and use them for hunting and other activities is part of the fabric of life in Alaska.

Although a final resolution has not yet been made, I am shocked that they could not have approved this decision sooner. I personally have never been confronted with a problem that could not be solved by a generous application of guns.

Granted, I did live a solid eight years of my life in Texas - the real Texas, not the bastion of liberalism that is the city of Austin. My friends and peers in Rhode Island seem to have a very different opinion about firearms than that of my high school friends. Here, they claim that guns "harm people," that an accident could cause "fatal injuries" to occur.

State Rep. Mike Kelly says he's drafting a bill that would allow firearms restricted under federal law to be built and used in Alaska.

The Fairbanks Republican says the Alaska Firearms Freedom Act is inspired by a similar bill that passed the Montana House of Representatives. It allows someone to own firearms or components restricted by the federal government, as long as they are built and kept entirely in the state.

The greater evil is eminently clear. The greater evil is the evil that requires repeated violations of the American Constitution, the continuous rape of American liberties, the pointless imprisonment of millions of harmless Americans and the probable collapse of the Mexican government. The fact that the Obama administration is now citing Mexico's narco war as an excuse to limit Second Amendment rights should suffice to prove to conservatives that the time has come to end the war on drugs. Yes, Mr. Buchanan, America must raise the white flag in the drug war.

Four Las Vegas residents were arrested Thursday on charges that include possession of weapons and tax evasion in a raid conducted by the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Authorities did not explain why the Joint Terrorism Task Force was involved.
Call was found in possession of an unregistered machine gun, according to the indictment. The gun is a combination of parts commonly known as "lightning link," which is designed to shoot multiple shots without reloading.
In the garage was a small canister of black powder and two ammunition reloading machines. A bumper sticker on a vehicle read: "My president is Charlton Heston." The famous actor was a strong advocate for gun rights.

State Police are becoming increasingly concerned with an alarming spike in local gun thefts. "Any time these weapons are out on the street, it's a concern for law enforcement," Senior Investigator Chris Keniston said Friday morning. In 2007, 75 weapons were reported missing in the Troop B area, which stretches across Clinton, Essex, Franklin, St. Lawrence and northern Hamilton counties. Last year, that number jumped to 116. Thirty-two have since been recovered. Police said most of the thefts occurred in Franklin and Clinton counties, where residents reported missing handguns, rifles, shotguns and muzzle-loading weapons.

We are a non-partisan association of currently serving military, reserves, National Guard, peace officers, and veterans who swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic and meant it.

Our oath is to the Constitution, not to the President, and that oath will be kept. We wont just follow orders."

Below is our declaration of orders we will NOT obey because we will consider them unconstitutional (and thus unlawful) and immoral violations of the natural rights of the people. Such orders would be acts of war against the American people by the government and thus acts of treason. We will not make war against our own people. We will not commit treason. We will defend the Republic.

Meet Tim Masters, an American of superior insight. After DNA evidence forced the State of Colorado to overturn his conviction for murder and free him from its cage, Mr. Masters knew precisely whom to blame for his ruined, stunted life. When CNN asked, "Any hard feelings toward the Fort Collins Police Department or the prosecutors in the case?", Mr. Masters responded, "Oh, absolutely. They locked me up for a decade for something I didn't do."

No Political or Judicial Support for 2A

The bottom line is: there is no support in the Congress for the Second Amendment, certainly not enough to override any attempt by those in power to disarm American citizens. Ron Paul and a very few others, will stand strong in defense of our rights, but like trying to stop the "bailout," the effort will fall short. To place ones right to protect themselves, their loved ones and their property in a political body populated for the most part by those who steal and lie as a normal function of everyday life is dangerous in the extreme.

Many gun owners, especially those in attendance at the recent S.H.O.T. Show in Orlando, were beside themselves with glee over the DC v Heller Supreme Court decision. In actuality, this decision, a 54 vote, does very little to actually support the 2A other than state what the 2A defines, with the caveat that even then it is subject to "reasonable" government restrictions. Libertarian gun rights advocate L. Neil Smith puts it very well.

Here's a suggestion for gun control: Prosecute gun dealers who demonstrate a pattern of selling weapons involved in crimes. There appears to be no way to get around the arguments over the Constitution's Second Amendment right to bear arms. Let's give up on outlawing guns, but hold those responsible who purvey guns to criminals.

A pastor shot and killed during his Sunday sermon deflected the first of the gunman's four rounds with a Bible, spraying a confetti of paper into the air during a horrifying scene that congregants initially thought was a skit, police said.

The gunman strode down the aisle of the sprawling First Baptist Church shortly after 8 a.m. and briefly spoke with The Rev. Fred Winters before pulling out a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol and shooting at the pastor, Illinois State Police Director Larry Trent said.

"We thought it was part of a drama skit ... when he shot, what you saw was confetti," said congregant Linda Cunningham

Fred Winters, the pastor of the First Baptist Church, was shot and killed during the 8 a.m. service, and the attacker and two parishioners suffered knife wounds in the attack, authorities said.

The gunman entered during the service and walked up to the pulpit.

Winters and the gunman apparently exchanged words before the 27-year-old man fired four shots, hitting the pastor's Bible and then the pastor, said Illinois State Police Director Larry Trent.

Submitter's note: Tell me again why I don't need a gun in church.

Someday, when the government orders you to turn over your gun and you tell them you don't have it any longer, they can lock you up forever, without trial, on "civil contempt" charges. The implications for gun owners are serious. You cannot count on either liberals or conservatives to save you - they agree on this. Read the article.

When a three-judge federal court panel ruled in February that California prisons were over-crowded and that the Golden State had to reduce its prison population by as many as 57,000 inmates, it sent shockwaves that should have been felt along the entire West Coast.
Washington State faces an $8 billion budget shortfall, and you can bet the farm and your first-born child that when the slashing begins, prisons and police agencies are not going to be spared from the meat cleaver.

Sgt. Tim Mechaley received a combat medal with a "V" for valor during his service in Iraq. Qualified as a marksman, he trained marines on a .50-caliber machine gun.

But, according to a story in the Omaha World-Herald newspaper, when he returned to the United States and tried to obtain a gun permit, he was initially denied.

Why? "Mechaley has received counseling for post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD] related to his service in Iraq. While completing an application for a gun permit, he responded 'yes' to a question that asked whether he was being treated for a mental disorder."

News of sentencing in the fatal shooting of Kathina Thomas brings to mind Albany's gun buyback program. The 10-year-old's death was the driving force behind getting the initiative started; offering gift cards to anyone who brought in a gun. NEWS10 spoke with the program's creator, Pastor Charlie Muller of Albany's Victory Christian Church, about its success. He tells us that buyback has now collected nearly 180 guns, and that a similar program is already under way in Troy and one is planned for Schenectady.

Here we go again. In what seems to be becoming "Standard Operating Procedure" for our country's educational system, this week's outrage comes from Central Connecticut State University. In yet another case of "zero-tolerance, zero-common sense," a professor reported one of her students to the police after he gave a class presentation on why law-abiding students and teachers who possess valid concealed carry permits should be allowed to carry concealed firearms on campus.
