Remington designed their 6.8mm Special Purpose Cartridge (SPC) to have improved terminal performance over the 5.56mm NATO, which is the cartridge currently used by the U.S. military. Specifically designed to perform better when fired from carbines and Short Barreled Rifles (SBR), Remington collaborated with special ops troops and the Army Marksmanship Unit to develop the 6.8 SPC. Development began in 2002, and field trials took place in 2004. |

Back in 2021, the South Carolina Court of Common Pleas ruled in favor of Attorney General Alan Wilson, agreeing that the City of Columbias anti-gun ordinances violate the states preemption law. In 2019, Columbia had passed ordinances to restrict the home-building of firearms, to allow for Second Amendment rights to be suspended and property to be seized without due process, and to ban firearms within 1000 feet of schools, even though existing federal law already does that.

Steve Tyliszczak (pronounced like TYE-lis-shack) is a member of the Army National Guard based in Connecticut, but he has an off-hours gig thats gaining a big following on-and-off social media where I first discovered his shoot-able wares. Mad Pig Customs, once just a Cerakote shop, is now teetering on the brink of fame thanks to their modernized yet practical lever guns. The first time I saw a photo of one I was tantalized by the mean-looking combo of modern accessories and color on a classic action. My curiosity was doubly piqued when I noticed the page garnering props from some of the industrys heavy hitters on both the manufacturing and retail fronts.

Oklahoma lawmakers discussed gun control during sessions at the state Capitol. A bill that passed out of the House on Monday afternoon would deal with what would happen if federal agents were to ban certain or all firearms. If House Bill 2984 were to become law, the author of the bill said local law enforcement would not have to participate if the federal government were to confiscate legally owned guns.

Faced with rising levels of violent crime, far too many municipalities and their leaders have focused on restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens instead of going after and prosecuting criminals. We have to get guns off the streets! is the usual mantra as these politicians scapegoat people who practice their constitutional rights to self-defense.

Legislators in half a dozen states are considering measures to roll back requirements that gun owners obtain permits and training before carrying concealed weapons, as Republican politicians race to show their support for gun rights ahead of primary and midterm elections this year. But as the bills progress through state House and Senate chambers, they are running into new and increasingly vocal opposition from an unexpected source: Law enforcement organizations who say allowing more people to carry weapons would add to an already troubling spike in gun crimes.

Even though is seems everyone is addicted to long-range shooting now, traditional lever action rifles remain popular. I think this is partly because as shooters become more familiar with different types of rifles, they begin to learn the fast-handling advantages that traditional lever action rifles offer. I also think it is partly because everyone has a little cowboy in them. But deciding you want a lever action rifle is only the first step. Lever action rifle calibers are primarily .30, .35, and .45. The most popular cartridges are the .30-30 Winchester, .35 Remington, and the .45-70 Government.
